Romney warns threat to shut down government not ‘effective’

Mitt Romney on Friday said the Republican threat to shut down the government in an attempt to defund ObamaCare isn’t an “effective” strategy.

"We're more effective tactically not to use a shutdown of some kind to pursue the ... anti-Obamacare objective,” Romney said in an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper. “I don't think that will be as effective.”

[snip]

"I think there's a better way of getting rid of ObamaCare — my own view — and that is, one, delaying it by at least a year,” Romney said. “That was Senator (Joe) Manchin's idea, the Democrats' idea.”.......

And this will sway who?

The base?

The media?

Who is listening to Romney?

Perhaps those moderate elected officials who now anticipate any campaign contributions from the base are gone.

Meanwhile: Sen. Cruz says he’s been talking with House conservatives

".....The conversations indicate that Cruz is seeking to wield influence not only in the Senate but in the House, where the leadership can afford only 16 defections if it wants to pass legislation without relying on Democrats.

A Boehner spokesman declined to comment."

Yes Mitt....let’s just do what the GOPe appeasers want. Let’s delay it a year. Delay having the full impact of the costs associated with it that will hit Americans personally - in their pocket book....

Let’s just delay it another year and give 12 months to Obama so he can lie some more, bluff some more, and not have to show his cards. Let’s just call the whole damned thing off and give it a time-out....that right Mitt?

Let’s give the GOPe some more time to appease the Democrats and more time to lie to their constituents back home about how “we’re really gonna take the fight to them this time.”

Let’s just give these appeasing dinosaur GOP Congressmen and Senators another year added to their Congressional Pensions...maybe they can hit that point where they just say eff it, I’m gonna retire like Saxby Chambliss.

The truth is Mitt, that when you fight, it is knock-down drag-out, not words, not ‘tactics’, not lies. You obviously aren’t up to the task, nor are the majority of our side in either house. You can all go to h3ll, you lying sacks of coward duck squeeze.

It’s the Democrats, not the Republicans who used the threat of a government shutdown. I listened very carefully to the “debate” Friday and this was the universal Democrat message: “If you defy us, the government will be shut down and we will do everything we can to blame you.”

And was the threat effective? You bet. Weak-kneed Republicans went soft faster than graham crackers in warm milk.

Well, since Reid is saying nothing short of just adopting the Senate CR version with full Obamacare funding will prevent a shutdown, Romney’s idea is a non-starter. Boehner is backed into a corner. Either he capitulates and destroys himself and the GOP or he actually stands his ground and starts messaging that Reid and Obama are causing the shutdown. The GOP is terrible at getting their message out. The media is screaming that the GOP will be responsible for the shutdown even though the ultimatums are coming from the Rats. Boehner needs to be in front of the cameras several times, every day, not one fifty word statement with a quick handoff to Cantor.

the Republican threat to shut down the government

..first of all, "shutting down the government" was never an GOP option....they said they would fund everything else except Dungocare....it will be Dungo's call. (surprised "The Hill" goes along with the RAT ploy)

Losers....don’t sway.

If anyone thinks otherwise, name any political loser over the past hundred years who was successful.

You are spot on! Amazing insight into why Romney lost the election and what the Republicans need to do to win this one. We need the backbone to stand up to the lie of Obamacare and the lies of the Communist DemonRATs (I call them DemonRATs because I believe they are the Devil’s Servant). Appeasement is never the way when it is an ethical matter. It is matter of right vs wrong.

Obama to Republicans: 'I will not negotiate'

The president used his weekly address to the American people to demand that Congress meet its two responsibilities: “pass a budget on time and pay our bills on time.” Despite Republican attempts to defund his signature healthcare reform law, the president promised that the next phase of the law will kick in on October 1 “no matter what.”

“I will work with anyone who wants to have a serious conversation about our economic future,” Obama said. “But I will not negotiate over Congress’ responsibility to pay the bills it has already racked up. I don’t know how to be more clear about this: no one gets to threaten the full faith and credit of the United States of America just to extract ideological concessions.”.................

Okay RINO Romney, exactly what would be effective? Oh wait, I know, keep your RINO party going that has been SO effective in keeping this Republic from turning socialist. That's worked well, hasn't it, you dipshit? You and other appeasers just don't get that the Democrat party is all about socialism and fight hard and dirty. Or maybe you do and just want to be part of the system?

Let Ted Cruz and others restore our Republic. Hope he and others form a new political party or join one that already exists: It's called the Constitutional Party.

For you even to say that the Republicans are shutting down the Fedgov shows what a RINO you are for not even fighting against the rhetoric. Just cave as all you RINO's do and don't even bother to explain to the LIV what is in store for them. You RINOs disgust me. I despise you as much as I despise the Democrat socialists.
