The Tea Party, Not Democrats or Republicans, Is the Problem
The Daily Beast's Politics Beast ^ | October 21, 2013 | Jon Favreau

So now that our government is open and able to pay its bills, what soon-to-be-forgotten lessons have we learned from this sorry fiasco?

Perhaps most important is the reminder that political temper tantrums in Washington exact a toll that goes far beyond unfavorable headlines and worse-than-dog-poo poll numbers. This decision hurt people. Some families couldn’t pay their bills. Others had nowhere safe to send their children while they worked. Poor women lost vouchers that helped buy food and formula for their newborns. Cancer treatments were put on hold for patients who didn’t have much time to waste.

All told, the shutdown and flirtation with default cost America north of $20 billion. The countries that weren’t busy mocking us were frightened by our behavior, wondering if the world’s wealthiest nation would become the world’s deadbeat nation, taking everyone else down with us in a global collapse worse than 2008.

And for what? For what purpose was this pain and humiliation inflicted upon the American people?

Yes, you, Rep. Marlin Stutzman from Indiana. Do you have an answer?

“We’re not going to be disrespected. We have to get something out of this. And I don’t know what that even is.”

Oh.

Which brings me to the second shutdown lesson. As a country, we may never get a more revealing, disturbing look at the true source of Washington’s dysfunction than we did over the last few weeks. Together, we endured a 21-hour non-filibuster speech from White Castle enthusiast Ted Cruz that was so devoid of self-awareness I’m not even sure he knew he was giving it. We saw Sarah Palin come all the way back from the small town of Irrelevancy, Alaska, to lead the charge against an open-air memorial that was blocked by a 3-foot barricade.....

And we saw small-minded wanna-be fascists toad licking the spittle off the shoes of their dear leader in a desperate attempt to demonstrate that they have abandoned all sense of shame and the ability in themselves to recognize hypocrisy.

Leftists suck. That’s what I learned.

One day soon, these neo-commies will get the government they want so bad and then they will understand why we fought its creation so hard. Most of them have skills that have some value in a prosperous nation with surplus cash, but they will be less valuable than unskilled labor in their glorious workers’ utopia because they don’t even know how to work.

Wow, these Tea Party (is there a Tea Party) people sure are the best thing that ever happened to the GOP-e and dems. Now they have someone else to blame rather than each other.

“Comments?”

Why of course. We see this everyday. The only thing the progressives know is to keep attacking relentlessly and mercilessly. They keep pounding words and phrases into America’s brain hoping some of it will stick and it does.

I think they’re really worried. They’ve been pounding on the TeaParty hard the last couple of weeks.

Jonathan E. “Jon” Favreau (born June 2, 1981) is a former Director of Speechwriting for President Barack Obama.[2] Favreau attended the College of the Holy Cross, graduating as valedictorian. In college, he accumulated a variety of scholastic honors, and took part in and directed numerous community and civic programs. After graduation, he went to work for the John Kerry Presidential campaign in 2004, working to collect talk radio news for the campaign, and eventually was promoted to the role of Deputy Speechwriter. While working for the Kerry campaign, he first met Barack Obama.

In 2005, Robert Gibbs recommended Favreau to Obama as an excellent speechwriter. Favreau was hired as Obama’s speechwriter shortly after Obama’s election to the United States Senate. Obama and Favreau grew close, and Obama has referred to him as his “mind reader.” He went on the campaign trail with Obama during his successful Presidential election campaign. In 2009, he was named as a White House staff member,[3] as Director of Speechwriting.

Another iteration of the left's fear and loathing of 'tea party' conservatives who see the wreckage of our economy and the usurpation of our freedoms and are fighting back using the political means available. Naturally, the left goes nuts. They are used to an ever-expanding government and 'reach-across-the-aisle' politicians like McCain who never saw a conservative he couldn't attack. All these whining 'sky-is-falling' screeds vilifying tea party politicians are clear indications that (a) the left is scared and, (b) they intend to try and make 'tea party' have the same connotation as the KKK.

This will be a tough fight against the Status quo in Washington but with ObamaCare collapsing, the tea party may be able to gain support from usually apathetic Americans finally waking up to fact that socialism is a dire threat to their middle class lives.

Jon Favreau, you're a lying sack of shite. You want to talk about anything but the real problem, the corrupt democratic party and the POS in the WH.

Yea, all these government problems started when the tea partly came on to the scene. Riiiiight.

The marxist must be defeated. No, not defeated, crushed.

Yes. The Republicans in the House passed several funding bills, but homobama had a pouty fit and wouldn't compromise on anything and went so far as to order open air monuments barrycaded - but it's the Republicans who are blamed for having a tantrum. Incredible!

Instead of blaming the Tea Party, the author needs to ask how Democrats and Republicans put the country on the edge of insolvency.
