Will a New Republican Party Please Stand Up?
The American Thinker ^ | 10/23/2013 | Kathleen Gotto

Posted on 10/23/2013 3:26:01 AM PDT by markomalley

Americans know the Republican Party has lost its way and the effectiveness of party conservatives has been neutralized. But it is not just the Republican Party per se that is the problem. All three branches of the federal government have seized our inheritance to the point where now we citizens are the ones who support and defend the Constitution, and career politicians and judges are destroying what is left of it.

It is indisputable that the Republican Party offers no united opposition to the tyrannical Left. Indeed, in the recent government shutdown fiasco, Republican senators repudiated their fellow House Republicans and stood against them with the Democrats. That action was a slap in the face to not just those Republicans trying to rein in the Left's disastrous fiscal policies, but to all Americans who are concerned about the socialist agenda that is destroying our nation. The question before us is what to do about it.

There are two major schools of thought on what should be done. One is to change the Republican Party from within. However, the Establishment members have been so long entrenched in their power positions that there is no way they will just move aside and let the conservative members assume positions of leadership in the party. In a disgusting show of grandstanding, both Democrat and Republican senators and congressmen publicly attacked Senators Ted Cruz and Mike Lee, who are fighting for us and our country. These two conservatives are real statesmen, and by their actions and values, show the contrast with political hacks in stark relief. Political leadership today has more in common with the mafia than with statesmanship.

Change the party from within????? Wow, that has worked well, lets try that for another 25 years. I guess I am in the “been there, done that” and I am looking for some new direction. And, I don’t have another 25 years, my life is pretty much done.

Republican Party used to mean something - pride - dedication to the US - strength abroad....now, it means cower, defeat, whimp, traitor...exactly like what a Democrat is!

Unfortunately, I don’t know a better alternative in terms of electing people to the Federal government. The one thing we need to do is vote out the problem people. I will be withholding more votes or going 3rd party more often if I do not like the candidates. We need to fight like hell in the primaries and withhold votes for entrenched GOP candidates in the generals. Sometimes a few losses can be a long term gain. No more holding my nose in November.

I also now believe we have to put a lot more of our attention into our local races and local/state politics. I think the Liberty Amendments may need to be part of our plan, and we need to make sure we are selecting good principled candidates for statehouses. Our votes, time and money hold a lot more weight locally.

Stay in the Party, the RINOs don’t want us. Look how they are acting they are scared of US! Screw with the RINOs in the primaries - that is their Achilles heel. Only a registered Republican can vote in the primaries in most states. You may be in an open primary state, that would suck big time.

The GOP has “lost its way”?

It has had its balls cut off and stuffed in its mouth is more like it. If a third party had a ghost of a chance at doing something other than splitting the R vote and allowing democrats to win, I would stand with them. As for now, I don’t support the GOP with money, time, or effort; those resources now go to individual CONSERVATIVE candidates.

In safe Republican districts, the Democratic line on the ballot can be had for the price of filing and collecting a few thousand signatures. We should not be primarying these “moderate” Republicans. We should be running against them in the General Election on the Democratic line.

Once elected, a Conservative Democrat can vote for whomever he wants for Speaker. If constitutional conservative Republicans are a few votes shy of being able to elect a Speaker, the Tea Party Democrats can boost him over the line.

We have had to suffer ideological Democrats in the Republican Party for generations. It is time we returned the favor.

I do not agree that Conservatives have been neutered.

We are getting stronger every day.

It’s true the RINO’s have their knives out but they are losing, and that is why they are fighting so hard.

It is the RINO’s that are killing the party, we need to dump them in the Primary’s an attack them on the Hill.
Ted Cruz is doing a great job, the more they fight him the stronger is his support.

Yes! Excellent strategy. Both parties suck. We need to fix them both.

Party leaders will move aside when THEY LOSE THEIR ELECTIONS. This is not rocket science... JUST SAY NO TO THE RINO!

Yep...we have about 19 solids in the senate and perhaps 80 in the house. Just keep building. We wont win them all but our influence is growing daily.

Logistics alone prove a 3rd party isnt in our interest or even possible.

You are talking about something akin to resurrecting the Dixiecrats. While it is an interesting idea, I doubt that the demographics will support it.

I don’t think we should be limited to a certain geography. This sort of approach would be limited to safe Republican districts that are currently infested by RINO incumbents. With Gerrymandering, these districts are spread all over the country.

Even if a Tea Party Democrat fails to beat the Republican incumbent, you can at least force him to tack to the right during the general election instead of to the left.

The Idaho GOP finally got its collective head out of its collective a**, and closed their primaries last year. You should have heard the howls of derision from the news media and the Left. "It'll discourage voter participation" was the most common refrain, even from the governor and secretary of state.

Only thing was, after the voting was over and the numbers tabulated, voter participation was higher. I'm hoping conservatives will turn out again this spring to put that RINO Mike Simpson (ID-2) out on his butt.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

How many RINO Republicans are sitting in safe districts, where the voters say every two years, “Well this guy sucks but the Democrat would be even worse.”

What would happen in these districts if you gave them a choice in the general election where the Democrat was better?

I know we all hate the Democratic Party, and justifiably so. We can think of nothing worse than hanging out with a bunch of Socialists all day. But what could be more fun than raising Hell in the camp of your enemy?

This is exactly how democrats tool back ‘their House’ in 2006.

Yes, run conservatives as democrats, ‘DINOs’, in moderate republican districts. Then either vote with conservatives or switch parties.

The problem is and always will be that the DINO will taste the corruption sugar inside the Beltway and become an addict.
