Bevin Calls Senate’s ‘Nuclear Option’ Egregious Overreach
mattbevin.com ^ | 11/21/13

Matt Bevin condemned the unprecedented power play by Harry Reid in the U.S. Senate today. When the Administration’s D.C. Circuit Court packing was challenged, Harry Reid and liberals in the Senate didn’t just bypass the rules, they eliminated them.

Further, Mitch McConnell failed as a leader in this fight to stop the blatant disregard for the rules. Perhaps it is because this DC insider has a long history of voting for the appointment of liberal judges, or because he’s been also had a history of “filibuster flip-floppery.”

Whatever the excuse, he is in good company.

Meanwhile, Democrat candidate Alison Lundergran Grimes gave us a glimpse of the non-committal senator she would be by refusing to say if she opposed or supported Harry Reid’s ‘nuclear option.’ Instead, she simply said it was “worth exploring.”

“Kentuckians deserve better than a pretend leader who does nothing more than wave his arms for the cameras or a candidate who refuses to make up her mind. The ‘nuclear option’ vote is an egregious overreach and highlights the same arrogant thinking of career politicians that also led to the government shutdown. As senator, I will fight the efforts of liberals like President Obama and Harry Reid to ensure they do not run roughshod over the rules yet again,” said Matt Bevin.

Mitch McConnell, has ceded enormous power to the office of Majority Leader, because he expected to BE majority leader by now. But his continual "agreements" have only emboldened Harry Reid and the democrat caucus.

Matt Bevin for Senate! If we take McConnell out, we will have new leadership!

Liberal INSANITY...

Be nice if we could get a few million to DC and take over the Senate by force... no guns needed just a few million of our closest friends and storm the Senate.

Oh, absolutely, Cornyn would be more of the same, and they have been grooming Ron Johnson to be the same. Roy Blunt went round the bend years ago in the leadership of the House.

Blunt is a disaster. Missouri is represented by two clowns.

If the Republican had a set, as soon as they got control of the Senate, they would calmly and orderly begin impeachment proceedings against any Judge or nominee that got their position after Harry Reid made this change...and let the liberal media scream and cry about it.

At least take a lot of rope. I'll be glad to pay for it.

If someone is on his mailing list, advise him that since Harry Reid and the Democrats have made this bed, the Republicans must force them to sleep in it.

Traditionally, when Democrats have abused Republicans, when the Republicans are in power they have not returned the favor, but time and again offered only fairness to the Democrats. Well, enough is enough.

If Harry Reid wants to go nuclear, then fine. When the Republicans are back in power, they keep that authority to themselves.

This truly matters, because with a Republican senate, and hopefully a Republican POTUS, there may be three or four appointments to the Supreme Court. If the nuclear rule is still in effect, the POTUS may nominate conservative justices, and the senate can approve conservative justices, *and* the Democrats will *not* be able to block them.

Harry Reid will rue the day he invoked this nuclear option, because it might very well result in a 6 to 3, or a 7 to 2 conservative majority on the Supreme Court.

McConnell couldn’t have done much. They want to control that DC Circuit no matter what.

The risk is, now that the ice is broken, the “51 vote to change rules” concept can be used by anyone to avoid 60 vote filibuster limits on anything.

Using 51 votes to change Senate rules was the real slippery slope vote, not so much the substance of reducing the non-Supreme Court judicial and executive appointment vote requirements. We just need to take over in 2014 and get our own 51 votes.

Unfortunately, when the GOP controls the Senate (God willing in Jan 2015), we won’t have the cajones to expand it.

I think McConnell did this to end the shutdown along with his 2 Billion dollar kickback for his state.

No minority in history, no mater the number gave away the limited power of the minority.

Yeah, I am having a hard time seeing this for a crisis. Half the US Treasury’s senior staff positions were never filled in the 8 years of the Bush administration because of Harry Reid’s blockades. The filibustering of nominees is a fairly pernicious practice that has been used against Republicans and conservatives probably more than against liberals.

“I think McConnell did this to end the shutdown along with his 2 Billion dollar kickback for his state.”

You’re probably absolutely right about that.

I hope it emboldens the Republicans to run roughshod over everything that the Dems try once they control the Senate.

It will be a glorious day!

“OK, here's the deal with my nuclear option thingy:

Because my buddy Barack's transformation of America isn't moving at the rate Mr. Soros, David Axlerod, Valerie Jarrett and his other handlers anticipated, we simply MUST pack the agencies and courts with more dedicated Marxists and libturds before BO's term is up. And although BO's agency heads will be removed should, allah forbid it, the pubbies take the WH in 2016, they will have had 3 years to bring in so many fellow libturds that a new administration will not be able to clean them all out.

But the courts – especially here in DC – are where the REAL action is! Dontcha just love that LIFETIME TENURE thing? We sure as hell do!

Oh...the finger?

Just my way of telling you Tea Party people that if you don't like it...suck on this!!

ROFLMAO!!!”

Most DISrespectfully, Harry “The Grinning Weasel” Reid

I’ve kind of given up on folling these antics and plan to spend my time on working on what form of government we need when this current system collapses.

Wouldn’t work. Majority constitutes a quorum.
