Who Funds the Far Left? You’ll Be Surprised
Powerline ^ | 12-13-13 | John Hinderaker

The Center for American Progress is a left-wing organization that is closely associated with the Obama administration. Its principal product is a web site called Think Progress. Think Progress is part of the internet cesspool that modern liberalism has become. Written by hack left-wing bloggers, it is bitterly hostile to free enterprise. It is a low-rent site that traffics in the most absurd smears and conspiracy theories. Many have wondered for some years who finances far-left web sites like Think Progress. As of today, we know at least part of the answer, as CAP released its corporate donor list for the first time.

CAP says that individuals and foundations account for more than 90% of its funding, and corporations only around 6%. It would be interesting to see the individual and foundation donor list; my guess is that left-wing foundations, most of which spend money left by dead conservatives, would loom large. But what corporations fund Think Progress’s anti-free enterprise propaganda? The full list is here; it includes:

This doesn’t surprise me. I once read where Big Oil fund extreme environmental groups. The idea is that if they get stiff regulations past against them, this in turns drives up prices and profits. If they were to really compete for oil and natural gas, this would lower their profits.

The middle class is stuck holding the bag.

How many of these companies REALLY know what they are financing? Many of them might really be horrified if they knew. If Walmart knows that they finance Communism, America is in deep doodoo.

I doubt that there is any conservative organization that can boast a remotely comparable list of corporate supporters. CAP’s disclosure is a timely reminder that large corporations are not, in general, supporters of free enterprise. Many of them love to partner with government to suppress innovation and competition. Excellent point!

It’s like, wow, what could they possibly be thinking, especially firms that are not themselves known for being screaming liberal.

Is it something along the lines of “a bribe makes them go away”? Do these same folks throw money in both righty and lefty pots?

“...bitterly hostile to free enterprise...”

And yet it was free enterprise that has led to many inventions that have made our lives so productive and safe...if we all stuck to socialism - we all would be living on govt farms eating mud!

Liberals have no sense - but yet we still have them everywhere...time to clean house and ship them somewhere else and see the infighting for control - because that’s the only thing that would get done!

The rats are shooting for conservatives to break away from the republican party so they can divide and conquer in 2014 and 2016.

At this point it is no longer a secret.

The Center for Responsive Politics, aka, www.opensecrets.org is a great resource as it tracks campaign donations from nearly every entity known to man.

For example, the media gives over 70% of their campaign money to the Dems on average since 1991 when tracking donations first began by opensecrets.org

Even Newscorp, which owns FNC gives more to the Dems then to the GOP

The site can be a bit difficult to find what you’re looking for at first, but once you figure it out which is fairly easy, you can see what companies, unions, etc...give their money to which parties, organizations and politicians.

I always reference the media entities whenever some lib says “there is no media bias”

70% says there is an inherent media bias.

And for good measure, I’ll link them to another site that shows that donations from people that identify themselves as Journalists give over 90% to Dems and/or lefty entities.

Proving another inherent bias.

That’s about the time the name-calling starts...

Growing up in San Francisco and now living in Marin County, I know their “debating” tactics better than they do.

They are so predictable in how they argue and how they act when proven wrong with facts from non-biased sources.

Walmart is not the same company since Sam died.

It is run by Kmart types. Old dogs gone.

You’re naive if you think corporations donate to an organization like that without knowing full well what they’re doing.
