Have you seen GEICO's latest commercial? Where the gecko drops his tea bag in Boston Harbor and declares "I guess this party's over"?
Between President Obama, his Democratic allies and operatives including the mainstream media and the Republican establishment, the Tea Party has become a quite popular and very easy target. To hear them tell it, it is the root of all evil and all that is wrong with American politics and our political discourse today.
And this is what we've come to in the age of Obama. The declaration of the end of the great American experiment in self-governance by a cartoon character with a foreign accent representing a corporation who owes its existence and continued success to big government, declaring an end to all that generations of American patriots have fought and died to defend.

If this is true, time to drop GEICO.
USAA is the one!
GEICO => Government Employees Insurance Company
Why would we think they’d be anything but big/growing government shills?
I am not sure why anyone is surprised, After all, it is the Government Employees Insurance Company.
I have seen the commercial and thought it was a slm at the Tea Party. I may shop around I am a customer.
The gecko is British. It was just a joke directed at Brits, if anyone.
This article seems like a ‘looking for a reason to be offended’ piece which isn’t common for AT
I already knew they were MS (Marxist/socialist)! So, I ALREADY didn’t like them and have declined them for years and warned scores against them.
I do enjoy the little lizard though! Sorta like I would enjoy the “roadrunner’s” beep beep!
To Glorgau..... I am looking for a video of the ad to see if it is really true.
This kind of crap kills me. I just have to stand back and say, really?
I’d love to drop GEICO, and I would if: 1) They weren’t so cheap, and/or 2) I thought any other insurance company was different.
Ridiculous. The Tea Party bit has to do with the Brit character in Boston. There are lots of things to be offended about. This isn’t one of them.
I am not psychoanalyzing the adorable wee gecko. I am just wondering how the marketing people at Geico and the upper management who approves of their campaigns, can possibly think this would go over well with many potential customers..... that is unless they themselves think that the Tea Party movement is a joke.
GEICO is a ripoff. They use bait and switch tactics. I went on their website to get a auto quote. After getting one there it directed me to call them to finish up the deal. At that point they quoted me the “real” quote which was $1500 more. I politely told them where to put it.
I dropped Geico. I now am with Amica. Never had any trouble and the prices are good.
I agree. I just rewatched the commercial on youtube and it's quite a stretch to view it as a swipe at the tea party movement.
Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway owns this piece of excrement company. What else can we expect from the bloviating billionaire?
