Did you read the article? He tried to get out in 2010. When you agree to serve the president you do a lot of yes sirs no matter who is in office. Why not read the book before judging him, or have all of you held this office before?
Nobody forced him to stay in 2010, and nobody forced him to put up with Obama and his minions for the past three years. He made his bed, and so he can lay in it...
I would have a lot more respect for him if he had resigned early, and written this before the election in 2012.

You are exactly right. The minute Gates said he would stay on as Obummmer’s Sec of Defense you knew he was a liberal.
And he loves sodomites. He is now head of the Boy Scouts, doing for the scouts what he did for the US Armed Forces, infest them with predatory sodomites. Like Obama, Gates is another special gift to America from George W. Bush.
Hillary needs to be made into a God-aweful ugly political beast that only cares about herself. Gate's example here proves that Hillary and Obama care more about themselves than the military. Republicans need to jump on this. Start by making the association with the military and then move it to all Americans. The nail in the coffin is ObamaCare. Obama and RATS care more about politics and socialized medicine than the real effect on American citizens. This is an angle that can be used over and over again, whether it is immigration, minimum wage, or unemployment compensation. It is all about politics.
Unfortunately, RINOs do not have the testicular fortitude to stand on principle and call out the RATS.

Because he would much sooner be off the job. Obama’s Whitehorse is a politically quite vaine. As we have seen time and time again over the last 5+ years they care little for actual foreign policy, and much for actual preception.
Indeed I would say Obama himself may care little for most aspects of domestic policy as well. He seems to let his meninons run around without any kind of supervision offen getting into the sort of scandal that would have brought down any other president a dosen times.

Yeh, I don’t get it. I understand that it is basically protocol not to talk poorly about your boss, but why did he stay on? Also, the Post article indicates that Gates thinks that BO has personal integrity, but is a poor leader and lost his trust? I don’t know how that squares.
After reading the article, I still think Gates is playing games. I wonder if Benghazi was discuused. He describes her as a tough leader.
Donilon’s name keeps coming up. I think he’ll eventually take the fall for Benghazi.
It got so bad during internal debates over whether to intervene in Libya in 2011 that Gates says he felt compelled to deliver a “rant” because the White House staff was “talking about military options with the president without Defense being involved.”
Gates says his instructions to the Pentagon were: “Don’t give the White House staff and [national security staff] too much information on the military options. They don’t understand it, and ‘experts’ like Samantha Power will decide when we should move militarily.” Power, then on the national security staff and now U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, has been a strong advocate for humanitarian intervention.
Another time, after Donilon and Biden tried to pass orders to Gates, he told the two, “The last time I checked, neither of you are in the chain of command,” and said he expected to get orders directly from Obama.
