The solution to the Obamacare problem will come quickly once the Obama problem is solved
“This is their plan, destroy it and then claim single-payer is the only possible fix.”
*****************************************************************
There is ONE THING and ONE THING ONLY that Republicans in the Congress MUST do this spring. And that is to make a very reasonable legislative change to the “Affordable” Care Act (AKA Obamacare). That legislative change would consist of two elements:
1. REQUIRE that the insurance companies participating in the “Affordable” Care Act (ACA), for each of their ACA health insurance policies, release their 2015 policy terms (monthly premium, yearly deductible, annual out-of-pocket maximum, coinsurance percentage and copay amount) to the public not later than October 1, 2014. They also should be required to mail the new 2015 terms to their existing ACA policy holders by September 15th so their policy holders receive it by October 1st.
2. Limit the “Risk Adjustment Payments” for 2015 to no more than 50% (lower would be better) of the losses that the insurance company suffers for 2015. That would help insure that insurance companies have more “skin in the game” when they are deciding upon their 2015 policy terms and thus more likely to set realistic rates. It would also help increase their resistance to threats and “jawboning” from Obama’s thug operatives.
Since participating insurance companies are required to notify the federal government of their 2015 rates in the April/May 2014 time frame, the public notification provision would certainly not be unreasonable or an undue burden for the insurance companies.
This modest and reasonable legislative change SHOULD be included in any legislation increasing the Debt Limit or in any other legislative bill to which it could be attached.
Will John Boehner and Mitch McConnell have the guts and foresight to actually do this? Unfortunately, they likely will lack both the guts and the foresight to do this. If this were done it would be certain that there would be a massive conservative tide coming out of the 2014 elections.
bump
I think people will know before the 2014 election 40% of the small employer plans moved their renewal dates to December to avoid having to comply with ObamaCare until December of 2014. Renewals will start to hit companies in October of 2014 and the rates will need to be significantly higher to comply with ObamaCare.
Expect rate increases of 30 to 60% or higher. The news media can not hide this from the public. This will be THE OCTOBER SURPRISE that should put the nail in the coffin for many of the democRats running for reelection.
I asked how she thought people were going to afford going to the dentist any more. She swore everyone was keeping their plans and their dental insurance. I replied that we are going to turn into Great Britain where no one goes to the dentist.
I am a senior citizen and am on Medicare. Believe it or not I still pay for it. The premium is taken out of my social security checks, even though I paid into it when I was younger and working
***************************************************
Me too. Additionally I pay #249 a month for a supplemental policy that pays the 20% Medicare does not pay, and for Part D. All told, $354 for health insurance. But at least I have not had to pay anything out of pocket with the coverage I have.
True. King Fubo has already handed down the mandate that forbids insurers from issuing cancellation notices until after the election.
***************************************************
I don’t think so. Employer provided policies have different expiration dates, depending on when the renewals come up. There will be cancellation notices going out all through 2014. I’m sure he WISHES he could stop them but don’t think he will be able to.
This is the point of Obamacare, to make it so everyone will find Obamacare their only option.
Yep. One problem I see is lot of people are not working because they got laid off because of Obama so I guess the working people will have to pa even more. I hate O I can’t even tell you what I think about him or I would get banned for life.
Did you notice any change in your policy or premium since Obamacare?
Oops, you’re right. I tracked down my source, and it was a Semmens satire piece.
Snookered again!
