A month after a small plane crash in Hawaii, a surviving passenger shows GoPro footage and even a selfie taken during the ordeal.
Would you have done the same? Ferdinand Puentes was one of nine passengers in a 2002 Cessna Grand Caravan which suddenly suffered engine failure off Kalaupapa, Molokai in Hawaii last month. As he heard the engine fail and saw the plane heading for the water, one of his first instincts was to turn on his GoPro camera and film what might have been his own demise. As KHON-TV reports, Puentes knew the danger he was in, yet the decision to film as much as possible might perplex a few. He managed to get out of the plane alive and survived the crash. However, while he was floating on a seat cushion and wearing his life raft, he took a selfie.
Was the impulse to record just a natural reaction? After all, any bystander or news organization would have likely done the same thing. And these days everyone is using their phones to film just about everything they see. But wouldn't one's first instinct be to try to contact family and friends to say goodbye? Perhaps that did happen. The footage reflects a quite stunning lack of panic. The passengers behave in an orderly manner. There is no screaming or pushing. No one seems frantic at all. Loretta Fuddy, Hawaii's 65-year-old state director of health, died in the crash, despite managing to leave the plane. In watching Puentes talk to KHON-TV, though, it's evident that the footage brings back painful memories. Would everyone want to have such ready access to a reminder? Or would some prefer to forget? "You could have died," Puentes told KHON-TV. "There's so much variations that could have happened for the worse."
Something about that whole incident stinks.
The whole purpose of this story appears to be to perpetuate that falsehood. She didn't die in the crash. She got out alive (as did the pilot and other passengers) and her life terminated afterward.
Ok, so, I just survived this completely F* up situation, and there are people dying, and this is “ME”.
"...despite managing to leave the plane" meaning, she didn't die in the crash.
No one's passing her seat and saying .. "Wake up ... get up" ... ?
No one looked around the plane to see if eveyone was off ?

Well, yeah. It would be so much easier to have her die cleaning her gun. The Clinton hit team got that town to a science. A hit and run is always popular. But buggering an airplane is difficult, potentially traceable. And, if the killer was on the plane with her, then...wow! That would be one EXPENSIVE hit.

Don’t you know, when we want to take someone out we do so in a very public way, we never take’em out while they are at home, alone, with some sort of staged home accident.
So the guy chose to document as much of this as he could. And now the media wants to find out what evil intent there was. Is there anything more vile that our media in it’s current state?

The crash was newsworthy. This guy documenting it is perhaps more than I would have done, but I do like to document special/important events. Why not?
This guy’s family may have been given the video later, and they could have been given comfort by things he said during the video. Who knows.

Well, if you wish to split hairs - no she didn't die IN the crash, but to quote Dr. Leonard McCoy "she's dead Jim". Certainly the crash will probably be determined to be a causative factor in her demise. Dead men [and women] tell no tales - especially about questionable Birth Certificates.
Something is just a little "too convenient" about this whole incident and it stinks to high heaven.
Just going out and buying a GoPro suggesst that he’s the sort who will use it to document life events. That’s the whole point.
If I had a GoPro I would not leave it in the drawer at home!
