A Torrance police officer who opened fire on a pickup truck during the manhunt for former Los Angeles police Officer Christopher Dorner was justified in his actions and will not face any criminal charges, the District Attorney's Office announced today.
Prosecutors concluded that Officer Brian McGee "did not commit any criminal misconduct" on Feb. 7 of last year when he rammed David Perdue's truck with a patrol car, then fired three shots through the driver's side window.
According to a charge evaluation worksheet prepared by Deputy District Attorney Geoffrey Rendon, McGee acted reasonably in light of the ongoing search for Dorner, who had killed two people at that point and went on to kill two others -- a Riverside police officer and San Bernardino County sheriff's deputy.

It’s totally reasonable to ram cars and shoot into them, when you’re just following orders.
Then it would seem to follow that civilians would also justifiably be in fear of their lives and be free to ram and get three free shots.
What a bunch of crap.
No matter what “they” say, the officer was NOT “justified in his actions” because he was WRONG about who was in the truck.
Doesn't matter if anybody else does.
Now, imagine the outcome given the following two scenarios.
1. Instead of a police officer shooting at a mistaken identity, it was just a member of the hoi poloi.
2. What would have happened if the innocent party was armed and shot back at the police officer?
I wish our troops in Afghanistan had anywhere near the same “rules of engagement” against the Taliban, that the LAPD seems to have against us.

They would have gunned him down like a dog, and given themselves medals for it...

So basically, the judge is saying he panicked. At one time in this country, an ability to stay calm in high-pressure, life-threatening, situations was a requirement for becoming, and remaining, a police officer.
"McGee's actions are analyzed based on the totality of circumstances, which include McGee's knowledge of Dorner's previous threats and actions in the days and hours preceding these events, which gave rise to an atmosphere of fear and extreme anticipation," Rendon wrote. "Those circumstances created a situation in which a reasonable mistake of fact, namely that Dorner was driving the truck, nearly resulted in a horrific tragedy.

What happened with the two elderly ladies who were delivering newspapers, got their truck shot all to hell?.........
Of course. Cops can shoot up citizens’ cars whenever they want, and they never face any kind of consequences. It’s “officer safety” above your very right to live, you see. Don’t you think the Founders would have loved it? I don’t. They would have called today’s police what they are: a tyrannical standing army.

Yup. You can take that to the bank.
But at least the officer would have been able to go home at night, right?
The military are to fight enemies of the state.
The police are to protect and serve the people.
When the police become militarized, the people become enemies of the state.
I think if Perdue were black, there would have been a lot more pressure to bring charges. What is really stupid is the fact they held a short white guy for over an hour when the perp was a tall black guy. The cops were trying like hell to figure out something to hang on this guy.

This is just inexcusable...there was absolutely no justification whatsoever for ramming a truck that in no way matched the description of Dorner’s and then SHOOTING at the driver who, if I recall correctly, was white and not black.
This is saying that any pickup truck driver can expect to be rammed and shot at if a “cop killer” is driving a pickup truck...
These clowns panicked...pure and simple. Lost their composure and the “sense of security” they have built up just because they’re cops and think they are exempt from accountability and responsibility. This decision absolutely reinforces this.
