The Real Reason Why Rove Went Into Denial on Election Night (Tried to save face with GOP donors)
Newsweek ^ | 1/21/14 | Pema Levy

Posted on 01/22/2014 7:52:47 AM PST by jimbo123

On Election Night 2012, Democrats had more than the reelection of President Obama to celebrate. Karl Rove, the mastermind Republican strategist hated and feared by Democrats, had a meltdown live on Fox News.

A new documentary, "Mitt," Greg Whiteley's film of Mitt Romney and his family during his 2008 and 2012 presidential bids, released on Netflix on Friday, sheds more light on that bizarre incident.

Rove's famous hissy-fit took place when the network called the state of Ohio for Obama, putting the president over the 270 electoral votes needed to win reelection. Rove argued that Fox's analysts had acted prematurely.

Plus, I don't think anyone calculated the level of fraud which was swept under the rug. We live in a fairly GOP leaning precinct (1500 or so RVs) and I've always been able to forecast statewide results fairly accurately by subtracting 18.4% from the GOP total here to reproduce the GOP total statewide.

My MOE has always been less than 0.5% using a somewhat modified formula of the 18.4% rule. It is a simple modification to account for regional biases-- candidates from this part of the state always run ahead of those from elsewhere regardless of party label. It correctly forecast that Toomey's U.S. senate election in 2010 would be a squeaker and that he would win by a considerably smaller margin than Corbett for governor.

It showed other amazingly accurate tracking results dating back to 2004, when we first volunteered to be poll watchers and I first begin checking data in our precinct vs. statewide.

In 2012, everything still tracked quite closely for the statewide races except one: the top of the ticket and it was way off . . . so far off that the chances of massive unprecedented fraud were very nearly 100%.

Our precinct is very well run and the Judge of Elections whom I am replacing ran a very good show. So the problem aren't the stats we generated, they are what went on statewide.

Karl Rove is an architect at channeling his donors money into advertising on liberal media tv and radio stations as well as into media buying agency commissions and crony consulting fees.

It’s clear Karl had his Ohio hissy-fit because he knew his donors would cut him off in the future after squandering their millions of dollars in donations to American Crossroads and Crossroads GPS.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Rove is almost entirely responsible for the 2012 election debacle for the GOP.Why?

Rove related to the election in the pre computer age when it had become the comouter age. Obama and his election machine used computer networking and local polling to know exactly where to target his money and workers in key electoral districts at the local level.

Obama’s election machine out strategized and out maneuvered Rove. Rove still is a loser. The GOP lost both the 2007/8 and the 2012 election at the hands of the Rove machine. The only reason Rove escaped responsibility was that he was not the public leader of the GOP election effort, his personal
work was as a back room boy who clearly did not know that times had changed and that he himself had become a dinosaur.

Karl needs to take a bow, and a kick in the a$$, and get out of town and let smarter and more computer saavy conservatives who are grass roots workers ( Tea Party)take over the GOP election machine.

No longer is it possible to win on fundraising alone. The wet interface is where its at,where the “community worker meets the road” and Rove has become a useless idiot.Actually worse than useless, he is actually damaging the nation by holding on to his control far too long.

Meanwhile the democrat 2016 eklection machine is up and running while Rove and his fellow dinosaurs are still sitting on the can having a shite and playing with himself.

Don't worry about Karl, he kept plenty of that money for himself.

In the political arena, Rove displays the ethical compass of an illegal arms dealer.

Right model with wrong results? How does that work? LOL

Incomplete information. Rove's issue wasn't that he made a claim that Romney won, his assertion was that it was too early to call the election.

However, when Rove made that statement, enough information was in to see that there was no practical way Romney could have gotten the electoral votes to win.

So, you assume all Republicans are alike? That as long as someone has an “R” after their name, that’s all that’s necessary?

If people “squander” their money supporting Karl Rove why should I care?

FR has turned into a bunch of mindless bashing which helps who exactly?

Ask yourself this

Would Ronald Reagan spend his time bashing Karl Rove?

I think not

This is no longer Reagan’s Republican party. It is full of Vichy Republicans who work for the statists. Stop living in the 80’s.

Did any of you PAY ATTENTION to election night? I'm not defending Rove but he had every reason to be skeptical of the numbers. Most of the swing states like Florida and Ohio were still in play when Obama was all but coronated by the media.

The Kenyan was never re-elected without HUGE amounts of fraud. Even Rove's magic calculator couldn't account for all that.

Also, notice he was excoriated by the lib media for doing so.

Considering how poor his track record, it is amazing he still wields so much power.

Not if you consider the possibility that the men that fund Rove and the GOP have goals other than what is publicly understood.

Karl Rove and his ilk are almost enough to make me think about supporting publicly financed campaigns.

Almost.

The 2012 election night was a disaster for Pubbie pundits/commentators. Several well-knowns had predicted a blow-out defeat of Obama. By midnight, they were eating crow.

How could so many supposed experts be so wrong?

His boss, Roger Ailes(sp?) is reported to have known Obama had won by 5pm on election day as did most insiders. Heck, I am a political amateur and I knew it a week in advance by looking at state polls and coming up with 290 ev for Obama, 20 more than needed. They gotta keep the tv viewers in suspense to get the ratings.
