Pat Robertson begs Ken Ham to shut up

Creationist Ken Ham is having his 15 minutes, following a live debate on evolution held between himself and Bill Nye “The Science Guy” on Tuesday.

And while you’d expect most folks to deem Nye the winner (which they have), Ham is receiving criticism from a source you might not expect: televangelist Pat Robertson.

On the Wednesday edition of his TV show, “The 700 Club,” Robertson indirectly implored Ham to put a sock in it, criticizing Ham’s view that the Earth is only 6,000 years old.

“Let’s face it, there was a bishop [James Ussher] … who added up the dates listed in Genesis and he came up with the world had been around for 6,000 years,” Robertson began. “There ain’t no way that’s possible … To say that it all came about in 6,000 years is just nonsense and I think it’s time we come off of that stuff and say this isn’t possible.”

“We’ve got to be realistic that the dating of Bishop Ussher just doesn’t comport with anything that’s found in science,” Robertson continued, “and you can’t just totally deny the geological formations that are out there.”

“Let’s be real,” Robertson begged, “let’s not make a joke of ourselves.”

That's kind of funny.

Too bad too, becasue intelligent design (ID) is solid, nails creation, and is based on Romans 1:20. The "age of rocks" debate, as in the 1925 Scopes trial, is misguided and irrelevant to ID and creation. Nobody know how many zillions of years ago the earth was formed. The Bible simply says, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1). Genesis 1:2 begins what we call "creation" which is really a re-creation which can be traced to around 6000 years.

It's too bad because ID so easily wins the debate over Darwinism. The "age of rocks" debate is a rabbit hole and irrelevant.

ALL rocks are the same age unless they are volcanic ones or meteor based.

Cause we wouldn’t want a well-known Christian saying wacky things and bringing disrepute and embarrassment upon other Christians.

Wait a minute...

And the sedimentary rocks. And the metamorphic rocks. All those have different ages, too.

“1925 Scopes trial, is misguided and irrelevant to ID and creation.”

As in the Scopes trail, the media managed to make the loser the winner and so Solon is trying to do the same thing. Nye didn’t win anything. And yes there is solid evidence for a 6000 year old earth, strange as that may seem to people pickled in Darwin from birth.

That is not true. For example, the Grand Canyon has 40 different sedimentary layers dating from 200 million to 2 billion years old.

Is it because the Jewish religion is about 6000 yrs. old???

No, it's becasue of a misunderstanding of the Book of Genesis in the Bible. Beginning with Genesis 1:3 is an account of what we call "creation," really a re-creation and can be traced to about 6000 years. The earth was already there. Before Genesis 1:3 was Genesis 1:1: "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." Nobody knows how long ago the earth was created.

Explain where NEW ROCKS come from?? Now if you are saying DUST from billions of years make up rock layers, I could agree, maybe.

The issue is the origin of living things not the age of the earth.

“ALL rocks are the same age unless they are volcanic ones or meteor based.

Almost all of the elements that make up this world are all the same age. (with the exception of radioactive decay) So in that sense, Ann is correct.
