Marine Le Pen's Worldview: Oppose America, Embrace Iran
Gatestone institute ^ | Feb 6, 2014 | Peter Martino

Posted on 02/11/2014 8:07:19 PM PST by JerseyanExile

Marine Le Pen, leader of the Front National (FN), the most likely winner of the upcoming municipal and European elections in France, held a press conference on January 22, in which she presented the foreign policy of her party, including a passionate plea for France to break off its relations with Saudi Arabia and ally itself to Iran.

Sitting next to her foreign policy advisor Aymeric Chauprade, Le Pen advocated that France should sever its links with Saudi Arabia, "America's... ally" and a "dangerous country ruled by extremist clans, who, since the origin of Wahhabism, have but one goal: to dominate global Islam and turn it into jihad against all other civilizations."

Marine Le Pen is apparently of the idea that the world is currently under threat from two evil types of global imperialism trying to subjugate France: American "euro-mondialism" and Islamism. In Le Pen's view, both the Americans (with the European Union as an American tool) and the Islamists want to dominate the world and destroy France's sovereignty and identity.

Her view seems to be that there is moral equivalence between the U.S. and Islamism; that both are equally eager to dominate the world, and that sometimes they even cynically use each other to foster their own goals.

Le Pen's worldview seems comes from the man sitting next to her, Aymeric Chauprade, who taught geopolitics at the Joint Defense College of the French army, until he was fired after writing a book in which he voiced the possibility that that the 9/11 attacks might have been part of a deliberate plot conceived in Washington to start an American war against the... world.

Chauprade is being groomed to become the leader of the FN group in the European Parliament after the next French general elections.

A lot of times whenever the Front National gets a mention here in the context of an article talking about the rise of the "French right", the few comments tend to be vaguely positive. I think it's important that people realize that for once, the use of the term "extremist" and even "fascist" by the European press is fully warranted. I've done research, read translated versions of the website, past and present, and speeches by some of their prominent members. The National Front is a fascist leaning party. They aren't out and out neo-nazis like the Golden Dawn, but still, their rise is not encouraging, especially given events over the past year in France.

She’s right about the Saudis, and not far off about the US and EU, but I don’t get the Iran part at all, unless they are providing funding.

They’re a means to an end. Anything to crack the European Union’s bureaucratic dictatorship. We can cross the next bridge when we come to it.

I agree with this view.

The funny thing about both of these silly propagandists is that by slandering our beloved country, they are losing support from anyone so inclined to see islamofascism as a threat. Talk about cutting off one’s nose to spite one’s face. A pox on both of them.

She’s right about the Saudis...

She really understands the threat - the huge threat - of radical islam. In this case, the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Her problem is that she equates Bush's stupidity, and Obama's plotting, with America itself.

I beg to disagree. The US has the strongest military but deep in debt that threatens to unhinge her society. Historically such nations tend to start wars to escape social problems. If the Fed Reserve cannot hold our debt ridden system together, do you think the bankers will take the blame, do you think the politicians will take the blame? I don’t think so. If I were the NSA I will at the behest of our ruling elites hack and crash the US grid before our financial system implodes. That way they can blame China, or Syria or Iran or terrorists, or ...... when our banks close and our accounts read zero balance.

I’m so tired of these people being called a European ‘Tea Party’. Anyone who believes that should read this article.

But ally with Iran, who is the world’s biggest funder of state-sponsored Islamic terrorism?

From the little I’ve read of La Pen, she’s as big a crackpot as our worst American crackpots like Noam Chomsky. Michael Moore, Al Sharpton, or Oliver Stone.

Would you care to document that assertion?

Pick a source. This is common knowledge. Unless of course you are fine with being an ally of one of Israel’s (and our) greatest enemies?? Does their chanting “Death to America” over and over not convince you?

I see the emphasis on Wahhabism as a distraction. The Shiites are no cakewalk, either, just for starters.

Overall, there is only Islam.

The Saudis are not to be trusted - the 9/11 hijackers were mostly Saudis. The Saudi were trying to get us to spill American blood in Syria, basically paying us to be their errand boy. They have there hooks in a bunch of people, and especially in the GOPe.

I personally don’t trust any of these middle eastern lunatics. But we have politicians in bed with them because there is so much money involved. Just like the Chamber of Commerce willing to destroy the USA on immigration. Money.

Our ‘leaders’ are simply cheap whores. DC should be flushed. Federal power eradicated.

Pick a source.

Actually I was hoping that YOU would pick a source since the assertion is one that YOU are making. Do you have a source or is it just something you 'read somewhere' on the internet?

Unless of course you are fine with being an ally of one of Israel’s (and our) greatest enemies?

Your lack of objectivity is showing here.

How about just providing the statistics from a credible source to back up your claim?

For example, does your 'source' consider Iran's material support of Shiite militants fighting Al Qaeda in Syria to be an act of terrorism?

Does their chanting “Death to America” over and over not convince you?

No, in part because the strategic threat imposed by Iran toward the United States is insignificant, (contrary to what some globalist pettifogs would have you believe), and in part because chanting 'death to America' from 7,000 miles away is not an act of terrorism.

Ah, the “lack of objectivity” game. Have the liberals indoctrinated you to such a degree? Should I be “objective” when it comes to God’s Word as well? To be “objective” in the meaning of liberals means to consider the rhetoric and propaganda of our enemies as valid.

There is absolutely nothing ambiguous about the words “Death to America”. I prefer to believe the evidence from the horse’s mouth when it’s available. And to say that Iran is strategically “insignificant” is to agree with Obama’s assessment of Iran as a “tiny country”, and his whole agenda by extension.
