Post Office Latest Federal Agency to Ask for Ammunition
The New American ^ | 2/13/2014 | Joe Wolverton

The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) has posted a request to purchase “assorted small arms ammunition,” reports political analyst Michael Lotfi.

The solicitation by the USPS was posted on FBO.gov, the federal government’s federal business opportunities website. The process is now underway to arrange for the purchase of guns and ammo for some undisclosed use by the post office.

As Lotfi points out, it is curious that the postal service can afford to arm itself given their precarious financial position:

The USPS has been posting $1-5 billion quarterly losses for years. In fiscal year (FY) 2012 alone the USPS lost a record $15.9 Billion. At it’s current rate of spending, the USPS is projected to hit $45 Billion in debt within the next three years.

The USPS lost almost $16 billion last year but the mail carriers are going to be packing heat.

Step away from that mailbox with your hands up.

Those going postal can’t be made to pay for their own ammo?

My Post Office has been closed for 5 months because of the Colorado flooding and government incompetence. I have to drive 25 miles 50 round trip to get my mail and still have to pay box rent.

I should think this would be reported in the MSM—it should be making headlines all over the country if it is true……...

You know that times are tough when even the post office won’t call on the cops for help.

The Postal Inspection Service has 1,000 uniformed personnel and 1,200 investigators, and dates back to 1772 and Ben Franklin. See 18 USC 3061(c).

SO, you are whining about paying box rent on a post box in a post office that isn’t open?

Where is your compassion, Mr. Conservative?

Doncha know the cops are winning the Annual Inter-Agency Dog Shooters Cup competition?

Without tax payer supplied ammunition, how can the postal workers hope to equal or surpass the Cops in the Annual Dog Shooters Cup tally of tax-payer owned dogs shot by an AgencyPerson?

All these ammo purchases seem counter to the Govt’s usual Gun Control rhetoric.

“the Govt’s usual Gun Control rhetoric”

The Government’s gun control rhetoric is confiscating guns from law abiding citizens. Street thugs and government officials can have all the guns they want.

You would think they would insist on all of common sense safety measures for their firearm collections that have been touted recently, like Non detachable magazines, 7 round limits, heavy trigger pulls, obtrusive & cumbersome saftey mechanisms, micro stamping, etc.

We dropped our po box in teeny town with no street delivery over a year ago and get free street delivery at our place of business in the next town over. There are no rules or laws about having to receive your mail at your place of residence.

Problem solved.

On second thought, let them take Joe Biden’s advice and just send o couple of shotgun blasts into the air whenever trouble arrives.

My point was—the New American is not exactly the main stream media.
Your gov site of course carries a bit more weight.

So where is the MSM in this? Are they tasked with ferreting out national news?

If you are waiting for honest information from the MSM you might have a very long wait.
