I would like an example, in the last 50 years, of Republicans sticking it to Democrats once they regained power. I believe quite the opposite of the stated theory. I suspect the primary reason Democrats are being so fearless in their attacks is because they have learned that there will not be reprisals from establishment Republicans.

Would your party stick it to the rats? You know talk is cheap. Action is something completely different

"You know talk is cheap. Action is something completely different."

That's a pretty strange attitude to take on a forum where our only actions are speech, defending a guy that makes a living giving speeches and writing books, at least since he retired from being a surgeon.

I am a Republican albeit a "dissatisfied and disgusted at parts of their own party" Republican. My party, if I could direct the party, would certainly seek reprisals against the type of scurrilous attacks that the Democrats engage in daily.

As an example, the Dems changed the cloture rule fearlessly. The press called it the "nuclear option" when Republicans suggested it, and Dems screamed to high heaven and made overt threats as to what they would do if we ever dared change those rules. "Moderate" Republicans said if we ever did something like that it would cause untold damage, yet here we are...and the same moderate Republicans are now silent about the issue. The Democrats wouldn't have dared do this if they feared what we would do once we retook the senate. Those same "moderate" republicans will then demand we change the rules back when we get back in power.
