Rachel Canning, 18, of Morris Catholic High School, was denied her requests for child support of $654 a week as well as thousands of dollars in attorney fees and immediate reimbursement of her high school tuition.

Morris County Court Judge Peter Bogaard also ruled that Rachel’s parents must keep her on their health insurance policy and keep status quo on all college savings accounts set up for her.

***************

“This whole thing is just destroying our family,” Sean Canning told The Post. “We love our daughter. She’s our pride and joy. The door is wide open. We want her to come home.”

Canning told the newspaper he and his wife have disagreed on typical family issues.

“I’m a liberal, liberal parent,” he said. “I wish I could have grown up in my house. I was tougher on my cops at work than I’ve ever been at my home, that’s for sure.”

Good. The young woman was crazy to think she deserved the money and/or would get it.

The daughter sounds like a little witch in training doesn’t she?

And the dad says how he’s a liberal parent. Perhaps his liberalism bred a strong sense of entitlement in his little witch in training?

I have sympathy for any boyfriend/husband in this girl’s future.

This girl couldn’t be doing this without the aid of greedy lawyers and a state mindset that see parents as wallets to be tapped.

It's clear why the parents refused to pay the school tuition after Dec 31, because the school administrators took sides against the parents, even to calling state Family Services......This is a church school who has people trained in family counseling, that should have been first.

My wife read me the judges decision. Looks like she didn’t realize she is not in opposite world when entering that courtroom.

The good news for her is that she IS in opposite world along with the rest of us when she leaves the courtroom.

i.e. the judges comments were the most sane thing I’ve heard in a news report in DECADES.

Let’s see if this thread lasts longer than the Daily Mail article on the same subject that was pulled earlier.

I predict a future in cam porning for her.

And I regret that the judge failed to slap her idiot-lawyer (sorry for redundancy) around for even daring to bring such a stupid case to court.

Given the current realityTV/Facebook obsessed culture. I’ll not be surprised if she did it just to gain publicity and a juicy TV/media offer.

"Morris County Court Judge Peter Bogaard also ruled that Rachel’s parents must keep her on their health insurance policy and keep status quo on all college savings accounts set up for her."

what does "keep status quo" on the college savings accounts mean? Do they have to continue to pay into them, thus forcing them to pay for her college?

The lawyer was being paid hourly by the father of the girl she is living with. This isn't a "contingency fee" case.

I’m amazed that there is a hearing later... to decide whether the parents HAVE to pay for college!

Here in Texas, 18 yo is adult! In NY (probably NJ too) child support goes to 21 yo. Thankfully, my hubby’s last child finished a 2 yr college program and moved out of momma’s house over 18 months before her 21st b’day!

I'll bet it does. And so this judge requires a pair of adults to legally pay the expenses of another adult (this "teen" "cheerleader" is 18, an adult). Divorce laws and alimony aren't just for ex-husbands anymore!

Yes, her side was basically accusing the parents of being cheap, but they were projecting.

To a liar, everyone is a liar. To a greedy person, everyone is acting out of greed. These people didn’t have a clue, but in their arrogantly ignorant narcissism had the gall to sick the gun toting state on the parents.

Despicable.

Seen her photo. She looks like a spoiled little brat who is really in need of a good spanking (non-sexual).

So the parents of the demon seed are liberals? Why are we not surprised?

Her child support demands alone added up to $33,540 a year. If that doesn’t confirm that she is a spoiled brat, I am not sure what will.

The parents are saying they want her to come home. I wouldn’t. I love my children so much it hurts. But what Rachel Canning has done is so destructive, if I were her parents, I could never see her without remembering how she tried to utterly use and destroy them, all for her own selfish gain. She is spoiled, but it is beyond that. I think she is evil. I wouldn’t trust her ever again, and I wouldn’t want her around my other children.
