KYIV, May 3 /Ukrinform/. The casualties during mass disturbances in Odesa on May 2 were the result of a special operation conducted by Russia, the leader of the Information Resistance group, Dmytro Tymchuk, has reported on his Facebook page

[....]

"The active phase of the operation aimed at seizing local government agencies was scheduled for May 9 – when, under the ideological slogans of the Victory Day, there would be an opportunity to initiate the activity of pro-Russian population. After tactical successes in Odesa, similar actions, with the assistance of 'Putin's tourists,' were to be initiated in Mykolaiv and Kherson," the military expert said.

If you read the Ukrainian sites, the pro-Russians are trying to disrupt the much larger pro-Ukraine demonstrations. The deaths of pro-Russians in the trade union building in Odessa was the result of pro-Ukrainians fighting back. As events happening in Crimea show, life under the Russian thumb is not an improvement for many.

Russians in Ukraine are being used in the same cynical way that Hitler used the Sudetenland Germans. Remember how well that worked out? Not so good in the long run for them.

A lot of ethnic Russians in Ukraine have no desire to live under Putin’s thumb. Of course Putin would deny that.

Yes and Putin is cynically manipulating the darkest corners of Russian chauvinism. There’s a whole darn lot of parallels to WW2 here.

The events in Odesa are all from the Team KGB playbook. Astroturfed completely. The big ass Russian flag magically appearing yesterday and then later a brand new city of Odessa flag parade march by pro-Russians.

Odessa is a city of 1,000,000. Putin is poking the Ukrainian locals in the eyes here and better be careful what he asks for. IF they decide to die with their boots on he’s got a big war on his hands.

All of the Ukrainian demonstrations I’ve read about have been larger and have lasted far longer than the ones paid for by the provocateurs while the Ukrainians have maintained it by people coming and going through the hours or days.

Putin, if he has any sense should realize by now the end of the stick he’s holding is getting shorter every day. His megalomania that led him to think there would be a mass uprising by ethnic Russians has made a fool out of him. The military action to eject provocateurs was a big plus for Ukraine. The Kremlin’s plea for Ukraine to move its army out of the areas was a sign of weakness. Putin blinked.
