House Republicans find 10% of tea party donors audited by IRS

Tells commissioner to come clean

By Stephen Dinan-The Washington Times - Updated: 10:10 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2014

Despite assurances to the contrary, the IRS didn’t destroy all of the donor lists scooped up in its tea party targeting — and a check of those lists reveals that the tax agency audited 10 percent of those donors, much higher than the audit rate for average Americans, House Republicans revealed Wednesday.

Republicans argue that the Internal Revenue Service still hasn’t come clean about the full extent of its targeting, which swept up dozens of conservative groups.

“The committee uncovered new information indicating that after groups provided the information to the IRS, nearly one in 10 donors were subject to audit,” Rep. Charles W. Boustany Jr., Louisiana Republican and chairman of the Ways and Means Committee’s oversight panel, told IRS Commissioner John Koskinen at a hearing Wednesday.

“The abuse of discretion and audit selection must be identified and stopped,” he said.

Mr. Koskinen didn’t specifically address the accusations during the hearing, and the IRS didn’t respond to a request for comment late Wednesday evening.

The revelation was made on the same day that the House voted on a nonbinding resolution asking the Justice Department to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the IRS targeting...

“the House voted on a nonbinding resolution “

Anyone wanna explain WHY it isn’t binding? Anyone? Why they did not vote to MAKE it binding?

The US needs a simple flat tax with very limited deductions. The IRS needs to be abolished and every last one of its employees sent into the unemployment line. Let them live off their retirement contributions which can be refunded to them.

If Obama would just stop waiting for his behind to lead, and move forward with Nationalizing all of the US Oil and Gas pipelines, then Nationalized Oil and Gas pipelines revenues would buy:
* a lot of Cattle Rustlers for Feudal Lord Reid’s BLM Raiders;
* pay liberal shakedown fines to Algore for the EPA illegal CO2 footprint of Obama’s Corporate Jet, Air Force One;
* and fully fund all annual performance bonuses for those public servants who daily break Federal Laws at the IRS.

Odds of an individual return being audited by the IRS is 1/150. Wonder if odds of 1/10 for a certain group is statistically significant?

It would be nice to look into the details of these audits, when compared to detailed averages over the entire population of taxpayers audited.

What was the average amount of underpaid taxes recovered from the TEA Party targets, compared to the average amount of underpaid taxes recovered for all taxpayers audited in a single year?

What was the average amount of all penalties assessed against the TEA Party targets, compared to the average of penalties assessed for all taxpayers audited in a single year?

What was the average income level of the TEA Party targets, compared to the average income level of all taxpayers who are audited in a single year?

What percentage of the TEA Party targets were claiming EITC money, compared to the percentage of EITC recipients audited in a single year?

OK now, THIS IS A BIG EFFIN' DEAL.

They went from targeting conservative organization in their application for tax exempt status...to targeting INDIVIDUALS FOR AUDIT.

In any sane world this would cause an armed revolution, but even the GOP in Congress cannot avoid the implications of this.

Impeachment now.

This is tyranny

IRS audit rate is 10 times the normal rate for tea party donors. that's barack Obama ordering the IRS to eliminate his political enemies, an impeachable offense. the buck Stops with Obama . Barack Obama is the head of the IRS

if a Republican president had done this it would be on 24/7 on the network TV instead of “the racist comment some baskteball guy said” , or the luge at the winter olympics, or the missing plane, or trayvon martin,

in the 1970’s the watergate hearings were on all 3 networks 24/7 .and Nixon's IRS never did oppress anyone. but the media insinuated that he might have wanted to

"Wonder if odds of 1/10 for a certain group is statistically significant?"

ABSOLUTELY!

Especially when the only connection they have between them is the fact they contributed to a conservative organization that the IRS has already admitted they illegally targeted.

We're talking about individual targeting, on a mass scale, with a political motive.

Crime of the Century.

Nope -- it's beyond that. It's time for torches and pitchforks.

And searching out and FIRING of the “civil servants” who are guiding and/or doing these targeted selections and preying upon the Obama regime’s enemies. And I do mean IMMEDIATE FIRING and not placing the perps on these ridiculous paid vacations (known as administrative leave to the bureaucrats).

democrat President Woodrow wilson destroyed this country with the income tax in 1913. Wilson enabled the 16th amendment(income tax), the 17th (which destroyed the free republic) , federal reserve etc.

Byron King explains how the world we’re all living in today was essentially created by President Woodrow Wilson during his Presidency.
http://dailyreckoning.com/the-wilson-presidency-woodrow-wilsons-world/

an income tax is unconstitutional . they had to ratify the 16th amendment to get the income tax but many say it was never even ratified (does anyone here know?)

He'll never be impeached. It's an unfortunate fact: a result of the evil of his party, and the evil of the MSM spin machine along the naivete of much of the current American electorate.

I'm saying this as one of the ten per cent who were harassed. Trust me, it wasn't fun, although being picked out had its special qualities as a badge of honor.

To hell with that!

They need to be charged, tried, convicted and imprisoned for their crimes.

Those in charge should be tried and hung on the Capitol Steps.

"He'll never be impeached."

The House must bring charges without consideration of what they think the Senate may do.
