I don’t believe cheating was sufficient to swing the 2012 election. There were a handful of precincts in Democrat states where the vote exceeded 100% of the registered voters but there is no evidence of widespread fraud on a scale necessary to change the results. Romney did not even raise the issue after the vote tally much less contest the election results which he could have done had there been evidence of widespread fraud. Instead after the election we heard his son say his father really didn’t want the job. He certainly campaigned like he didn’t want to win.
Romney was a weak candidate and ran a weak campaign with no compelling message. Romney tried to pretend he was a conservative but he had a strong progressive track record as governor of one of the most liberal states in the US which made his feeble attempts to appear conservative laughable. Obama was extremely vulnerable on the issue of Obamacare but Romney, as the architect of socialized medicine in Massachusetts, could not attack Obama on the healthcare issue with any credibility. Plus Romney allowed Obama to define him as a greedy wealthy businessman and would not take his gloves off to attack Obama directly. Americans respect fighters, they don’t respect wimps.
Given a choice between an unashamed socialist, and a socialist pretending to be a moderate conservative, the majority of American voters chose the real thing or chose to stay at home and not vote. Romney lost by over 4 million votes.
And the republicans are backed into a corner as far as claiming fraud since they have that New Jersey agreement binding them.
