The Mayor was upset because she had to get married to her girlfriend in a state other than Texas and vowed to do everything she can to make sure that Texas allows marriages between members of the gay community. She can’t run again as she is now term limited but you can be sure that she will try to push her entire gay agenda on Houston before she steps down.

Sad day for Texas. Voters had a chance to elect someone else during the last election but they stayed home and so deserve what they got. Black ministers particularly are totally against this issue. Will be interesting to see which side Sheila Jackson Lee, their DC Rep, comes down on or if she will, for perhaps the only time in her political career avoid the limelight.

Denise Porker, as she is called by Michael Berry, is just a female Obama. Between the millions streaming across the Mexican border and Porker’s actions, Houston is becoming a disaster.

I respectfully disagree with you. Houston was already a disaster. Porker just made it a bigger disaster. Houston has had a string of horrible leadership for at least the better part of three decades.

Boob Lanier, L.P. Brown, Crashy Whitmire, Porker

No zoning, relentless urban sprawl, no mass transit, flat as a board, terrible drainage problems that are getting worse every day, hordes of illegals, moveable parking lots that are laughingly called freeways, high property taxes, high sales taxes and little in the way of redeeming value, entertainment or amenities.

“Houston is becoming a disaster.”

This new law will further devastate Houston’s economy, increase unemployment and hurt real estate prices.

Term limited? She was just elected. Is there a one-term limit for mayor in Houston?

You have to understand, Texas is on the threshold of going very Blue. Despite low turnout elections, all general elections beginning in 2016 or 2020 will be mostly Blue candidates.

Already very Blue El Paso, San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, and Houston will rule the state in the very near future. You only have to look to California in the late 70's to late 80's to understand how this will happen here.
