Press Laughs at Psaki Saying Obama ‘Doesn’t Give Himself Enough Credit’ on His Foreign Policy(VIDEO)
Washington Free Beacon ^ | May 29 2014 | Washington Free Beacon Staff

State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki was openly mocked by the assembled press corps Thursday after saying President Obama “doesn’t give himself enough credit for what he’s done around the world.”

Associated Press reporter Matt Lee asked sarcastically whether he deserved 200 percent credit, while another one wondered for what “accomplishments” Psaki meant he deserves more praise.

“For engagement initiatives like Iran, what we’ve done on Ukraine, efforts to dive in and engage around the world,” she said.

“I mean, Russia has still annexed Crimea,” another reporter asked. “I mean, Iran — there’s ongoing negotiations, but is that the success here that you’re talking?”

“We’re talking about engagement in the world and taking on tough issues that present themselves,” Psaki said. “And the United States continues to play a prominent role doing that.”

Full exchange:

JEN PSAKI: I would argue the president doesn’t give himself enough credit for what he’s done around the world, and that’s how the secretary feels too. We would not be engaged in comprehensive negotiations with Iran, which is where the program is stalled and is rolling back, if it were not for the role of the United States, along with the P-5 plus one partners, certainly. Ukraine, we’ve been engaged more or as much as any other country in the world in supporting the elections process and supporting the government and supporting their efforts moving forward. Yes, there’s more work that needs to be done. The point is, we need to continue to stay at it.

Q: But isn’t this a potential mission accomplished situation?

PSAKI: Absolutely not.

Q: Jen, you would argue the president doesn’t give himself enough credit? How much credit would you give him?

PSAKI: Well, I think what I’m — I would give him more than he has given himself. That’s what I just said.

Q: What, like, 200 percent credit?

PSAKI: So would the secretary.

Q: So — and for — and for –

Q: Credit for what? I’m sorry, credit for what?

Q: For what, yes, exactly? That’s the point.

Q: No, I mean, I don’t — I don’t mean, like, he doesn’t deserve credit.

Q: For the Iran negotiations?

Q: I mean — I mean — I’m talking, what specifically are you talking he doesn’t get enough credit for — (inaudible)?

PSAKI: For engagement initiatives like Iran, what we’ve done on Ukraine, efforts to dive in and engage around the world.

(Cross talk.)

Q: I mean, Russia has still annexed Crimea. I mean, Iran — there’s ongoing negotiations, but is that the success here that you’re talking?

PSAKI: We’re talking about engagement in the world and taking on tough issues that present themselves. And the United States continues to play a prominent role doing that.

Obummer’s only cognitive foreign policy is to help the Muslim Brotherhood and Al Queda to overthrow stable governments.

This is the best summer I’ve had since I was a kid. The Democrats are falling apart. Obama is going to come out and try to swim in the press pool and Biden will hold his towel.

If there’s one thing that Obama has never done,

it’s fail to give himself credit.

Psaki and Harf are the biggest airhead Progressive spokesholes imaginable. Did Hillary put those ditzes there? If so is Kerry too stupid or too cowardly to replace them?

(that last question was rhetorical of course)

Evidently, Obama’s foreign policy must not be judged by how many successes he's had. All that's important is that Obama has “engaged” other powers.

Wow. That just boggles the mind. Image a lousy baseball player saying to a group of reporters: “It's true that I've been hitless for the last five years. But what matters is that I have engaged the ball every time I've been at bat.”

Psaki began her career in 2001 with the re-election campaigns of Iowa Democrats Tom Harkin and Tom Vilsack. Psaki then became deputy press secretary for John Kerry’s 2004 presidential campaign. From 2005 to 2006, Psaki served as communications director to U.S. Representative Joseph Crowley and regional press secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

Jennifer (Jen) Psaki was named Department Spokesperson in February 2013. She previously worked for then-Senator Kerry nearly nine years ago on his presidential campaign as a Deputy Press Secretary and has worked in senior positions within the Obama Administration over the last five years.

Psaki also opened the Washington, DC, office of Global Strategy Group (GSG), a New York-based communications and research firm. As the Senior Vice President and Managing Director at GSG, Psaki worked on behalf of a range of corporate, government and non-profit clients including The Export-Import Bank and Kroll Bond Rating Agency.

Who will ever forget the wonderous "engagement initiative" Obama conceived with regard to the Ukrainian crisis?

As with the Arab Spring initiative, the Ukraine now enjoys the same peace as Libya and Egypt!

The president should get 200% more credit for the "Promise of the Hashtag" doctrine and more.

ummm, that's Psaki, pronounced sack-ee, my p is silent.

Psaki, who grew up in Connecticut and got into politics after signing up for a Democratic campaign program that led to a two-year post-college stint in Iowa, concentrated largely on her job. But when she heard other women at the office mention Mecher’s attractiveness, she’d perk up — and get a little jealous.

After a shared cab ride one night and some flirting at 18th Amendment bar on Capitol Hill another evening, Mecher made up his mind to ask for a date. “I actually got really nervous,” he recalls. “Which was really weird. I was 30 years old. I’ve asked a few girls out before. I’ve never been nervous about it in my life.”

The last Friday in September, he sent Psaki an e-mail asking her to dinner. She quickly wrote back saying yes. The next Monday they met in the elevator so their colleagues wouldn’t see them leave together — “we thought we were so slick,” Psaki says.

By December, they were exclusive and planning a trip to Costa Rica. “I think from the beginning we just felt very comfortable,” she says. “We got along very well, and our personalities meshed very well.”

In March 2009, Mecher proposed at home on a Wednesday night. The next day he got a call from Emanuel, who likes to take credit for the relationship. “Only Rahm can congratulate you with several f-bombs,” Mecher says.

On May 8 they were married at Woodlawn, a stately property on a tributary of the Potomac River in Southern Maryland. More than 220 guests, including White House press secretary Robert Gibbs, speechwriter Jon Favreau, and television journalists David Shuster and Jake Tapper, watched as the two exchanged vows under the canopy of a mulberry tree before adjourning to a reception where they were entertained by an ‘80s rock band, Judo Chop. (Emanuel was invited but had another obligation.)

Psaki Runs from Question About ‘Vanity Fair’ Benghazi Article
Washington Free Beacon Staff

State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki was asked by a reporter to reconcile former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton’s famous Benghazi question with claims in a new Vanity Fair article Tuesday in a State Department press conference.

Psaki’s response was a predictable State Department refrain, stating “this has been all addressed” by the Accountability Review Board before quickly moving on:
