FBI, Hazmat Crew Outside SF Building

FBI agents, San Francisco police and fire crews, and a hazardous materials team converged on an apartment building between Jackson and Polk streets Saturday morning.

FBI agents, San Francisco police and fire crews, and a hazardous materials team converged on an apartment building between Jackson and Polk streets in the Russian Hill neighborhood Saturday morning, according to San Francisco police.

The San Francisco FBI office told NBC Bay Area that the agency is executing a search warrant as part of a criminal investigation.

The FBI said that the investigation poses "no threat to public safety," and that protective equipment was being used in the interest of agent safety.

An FBI spokesperson said that a bomb squad had shown up at the scene of the investigation, but that it turned out to be a false radiation alarm.

The FBI declined further comment in light of the ongoing investigation.

Crews wearing hazmat suits were seen going in and out of the building and people are gathered on the roof of the building, according to a witness.

Police have blocked off a section of Jackson Street between Polk Street and Van Ness Avenue.

Those who live in the area said it has been an interesting afternoon watching what has been going on.

"There are a lot of police, a lot of fire, and there was a bomb squad here earlier," a neighbor said. "That's very scary for those of us who live here, but it seems like everything is going OK. But it's hard to know. We don't know anything about what's going on, so we have no information at all."

Bay City News contributed to this report.

Hazmat...San Francisco...

I would think pools of spooge would be regular occurances. No need for media to be involved.

Unless of course it's a PSA, for free lunch.

Wonder how many thousands of government agents are on the scene?

“He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance.”

I wonder where they get the buckets of money to run these Farce Enlawment Senior Skip Day thingees, anyway?

Isn’t this a pricey section of SF .?
Russian Hill off of Van Ness is very very nice.

I wonder if there is a connection. Here in the East Bay in Pleasant Hill and North Concord, there was a huge Drug Raid. No wonder I have been seeing alot of cops around on the street lately. Anyway, they also had swat around and made some arrest. Now perhaps this San Francisco ring is link to the raid here in the East Bay.

I liked the old days where they came into town, drained the local ponds, booked the motels solid for a few months until all the local young ladies got pregnant. They would drink the town dry, run tracking hounds over the cliffs, run people down with their vehicles, and drain the ATM machines with their government issued credit cards.

Ahhhh, the good o'l days.

Some dry cleaner is going to get a lot of pants to clean.

Radiation alarm for the bomb squad?

What DOES happen when Lefty's radiation detector goes off at a possible EOD site? Besides the obvious need to change pants?

Someone has an illegal deep fryer with trans fat???

Someone dropped one of the stupid CFL light bulbs???

Someone has a 64 ounce Big Gulp???

Someone found an ‘arsenal’ consisting of 100 rounds of 22lr.

If there needs to be a hazmat crew anywhere in that city it’s at one of the many gay cruising bars.

Depends ......

Prolly a couple of cases of old Coleman lantern mantels made of thorium.

Nothing to see here , move along .......just a DOE/NNSA ARG team training day.

Bottom line, just remember a little poem my Father gave me when I went into EOD back in 72.....

Peace and Grace

Peace and Grace, used to rule this place and angels guarded the door.
Now peace is dead and the angels have fled.....and Grace has turned into a whore.....

Watch yer six cook !

Stay safe !!
