video interview with author/film maker Sebastian Junger on sequel film to his award nominated documentary "RESTREPO" that followed a years worth of embedded filming with one Platoon in the high Hindu Kush Mountains of north eastern Afghanistan.
In "KORENGAL" Junger uses more of the 100 plus hours of film that he and Pulitzer winning photo-journalist from the UK, Tim Hetherington, shot on the tiny, mountain top fire-base, dubbed, by ABC's "Frontline" and "The Most Dangerous Place on Earth" (Hetherington was killed in Libya)
He and Hethington spent a years worth of time with this small platoon of 20 soldiers during their 15 month deployment there.
Sgt. Michael Cunningham, who served in that deployment, joins Junger in the interview.
Junger is very good. He wrote ‘The Perfect Storm’, the book was much better than the movie.
He also wrote “WAR” - a book on this platoon in the Korengal
The platoon - Battle Co., 2nd Battalion, 503rd Airborne - was also the subject of a Frontline Documentary: “The Other War” (can be seen on You Tube) - as well in several other news stories, front cover magazine stories, etc. - They saw more combat - by far - than any other - and one of the most decorated in the military.
The film, “RESTREPO” is now used in military training.

Yes the movie is very good, my whole family found it very interesting.
