I used to live a few hundred feet beneath the Reagan Library.

It must have been very dark. How did you keep the ground water from rushing in?

It was on a large hill. Ground water wasn't a consideration.

But that saved me during the Northridge earthquake of January 1994. The liquefaction zone ran by the bottom of the hill through the golf course, and the clubhouse took a pretty good hit.

I was above that on granite, and I took a shaking, but not much else in the way of damage.
