Mitt Romney 2016? Advisers try to squelch effort, but it's gaining steam. (Barf Bag)

Talk to any of Mitt Romney’s closest political advisers, and the answer is the same: He won’t run for president in 2016.

“I take Mitt at his absolute word. He’s not running,” says Ron Kaufman, Republican national committeeman for Massachusetts and a senior adviser to Mr. Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign.

........................................................

But in Chicago last week, when asked about his draft effort, Utah GOP chairman James Evans was happy to talk.

“We are mindful of Romney insiders’ concerns, but we’re not going away,” says Mr. Evans.

“This is a grass-roots efforts,” Evans says,

Red Alert on BS meter. There is no "grass-roots effort" to draft Willard. It is the GOPe and their money men trying once again to shove Willard down our throat.

I am wracking my mind, wondering if anyone who was a party’s nominee in a losing effort has ever gone on to win in a subsequent election. Nixon is the only one I can think of. Grover Cleveland?

I don’t think there is a great track record. It’s just people without much imagination.

He sat there and smiled as the Democrats shamelessly painted him as a dog-abusing cancer-spreading job-exporting polygamist who was going to break into medicine cabinets and steal all the birth control.

Worked like a charm. And we want to go through that nightmare again WHY exactly?

GOPe has no one to run. It is a fading institution and they are gasping while the lobbyists and chamber of c does CPR, they are done. They can’t get elected not to the presidency and they can hardly hold onto a senate minority (they don’t want the majority) no one has the desire to go through any of the senate races again, Linda, Cochran. Romney will get back in for another losing race. He’s so oblivious and he doesn’t mind losing

Rove has so much stamina. He tries to get r Paul in there and everyone is after Rubio. But the base is ignored.

It’s all a guess, of course.

Perhaps the base is growing significantly

It is certain that those who did not vote for Romney from the right will not do so next time. That number has to have grown a lot

The GOPe have enabled and abetted BO

Does the RNC think they can get more libs and livs to vote. The primaries are going to be tough ESP if they run Romney against a conservative.

Why all of the yakity yak when MR and his top aides have stated many times that he is not running?

BTW-—BHO stole the 2012 election IMHO.

“I take Mitt at his absolute word. He’s not running,” says Ron Kaufman, Republican national committeeman for Massachusetts and a senior adviser to Mr. Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign.

If Romney were the kind of person we could take at his word, he might have won in 2012. Unfortunately, despite his temporary campaign trail claims to have become a conservative, we knew at the time that he was just another big government liberal, one who secretly loved ObamaCare. Granted, he's a patriotic big government liberal who wants America to survive, so he is much better than Obama, but he's still a big government liberal and we all knew he was lying to us in 2012. He's lying again this year as he says he won't run, and he'll systematically lie to us on the campaign trail in 2016 as he pretends to be whatever his handlers tell him will get votes.

Romney plans his political campaigns like he plans a corporate takeover. Its well-thought-out in terms of strategy, as he carefully positions himself and carefully derails his opponents.

What he does not do is lead. And what he does not do is fight for principles. During the “fights of the century” he is silent, no where to be seen, never heard, he is just quietly in the background preparing his position papers and crafting his supposed principles and planning for the day that he can mount a takeover and leverage himself into power.

But he does not lead and he does not fight for anyone but himself.

Well, after the GOP finishes the purge of conservatives from their party, Romney will be all they have left. Romney and Jeb Bush.

Grassroots among Mormons maybe. They LOVE the guy. Zombie eyed adoration for him.

Maybe this is what taints the Utah GOP’s vision.
