Drivers in another state will soon be able to obtain official license tags featuring the “Don’t Tread on Me” flag that has been adopted by the tea party movement.

Alabama is poised to join Virginia, Arizona, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Texas in allowing residents to choose a license tag with the Gadsden flag.

In Alabama, a Christian conservative group founded by Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore is encouraging supporters to pre-order the tags. According to the Associated Press, the “state Revenue Department requires 1,000 pre-orders before it will manufacture a specialty tag like the one sought by the foundation.”

Finally, someone is taken the initiative. That will show them. Whomever it is they don't want to be "treaded" on by. Obama, the Democrats, ISIS. I feel so much safer now.

It’s like putting a Star of David on your sleeve. It will let the government know who is their enemy.

That’s why no one is complaining.

My thought was ... license plates are nice, but this mindset needs to go FAR beyond a license plate and get translated into action. For starters, Feds are into EVERYTHING, the vast majority of it not authorized under the Constitution and they need to be thrown out and their grubbing, dirty, grasping hands removed from our pockets/wallets. The states need to stand on their own two feet and not be held hostage due to Fed funding/blackmail/bribes, whatever you want to call it. Until this happens, we’re all serfs. State & local governments need to be reined back as well. It’s gotten to the point where you’re working to pay taxes and everything else is becoming incidental or if you’re “poor” or dishonest enough to game the system, provided by big ‘sugar daddy’ government (just the way the big government folks like it).

That's exactly my point.

It's a government plot. Now those extremist, evil, racists, terrorist voters holding Tea Party ideology can be easily identified.

:)

Just kidding. Well, make that 90/10.
90% kidding
10% not

I can hear the DA summing up his case now:

“So members of the jury, even though the defendant would have you believe he was shooting in self defense, there is no doubt he was predisposed to shoot poor, little Johnny. All you need to do is look at his mindset. He advertises his extremist ideology every time he gets behind the wheel of his car. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, you have no option but to find him guilty of first degree murder. ”

Are the courts going to block this because the state doesn’t offer a “Please tread on me!” plate, the way they stop “Choose life” plates because there’s not a “Choose death” one?

Actually, pondering on this for a short time, while my human nature would like to revel in this "Don't tread on me" attitude, my familiarity with the meek and lowly Jesus' call to discipleship (Mt. 11:28-30) forces me to acknowledge that this oppositionally defiant attitude, and identifying with a venomous snake, is not the sentiment of a mature follower of Christ.

(Father, help me to learn to be more mature in upholding the true liberty in Christ.)

I guess I am not opposed to the message the plates send, it is that no one listens to the message...

Why buy a visible sign of your position, for it to only resonate with those few who understand its meaning...

And the opposition, who in some ways, recognizes the “visual symbology(ies)” we put into our message know when an opportunity arises, your person and property can be victimized at their convenience...And certainly not in an appreciable percentage of occurrences in front of you...

As far as I know, breaking into, or damaging personal property is not worth a persons life, you may very well be incited to react or respond to when you witness this misdemeanor crime committed in your presence...

I know that there are provisions in the laws in “some” states that provide the option for someone to utilize “deadly force” during the witnessing of a crime being conducted in the “night-time”...

It just means that I am all for taking the message to the people, but if they are not listening or comprehending it ( in the first place), why incite some to take their interpretation (disagreement) of your message out on you???

We are not near the point where we clear leather just to retaliate for the ignorance of liberal/socialist minded people and their minions of low-information voters yet...Let’s hope we do not get there...

Because no one wins at that point...

I have Va. DTOM plates. They get smiles, waves, and two days ago a guy followed me two miles and into a Walmart parking lot to take a picture of it and send it to his brother. We talked for about 10 minutes and it was legit. Once a pissed off liberal lady pointed at me and asked if I was going to "sic my gun club on her." I just smiled and waved. If they want to throw a brick through my windshield, then let them show their true character.

To me it's a sign that my state officially recognizes this view, and I want to support it as well. The more people who have them the better. Say who you are. THE LEFT CERTAINLY DOES. Don't act like an oppressed minority. I'm pretty surprised by these comments.

I have VA DTOM plates, also. I see a lot of them everyday on I-95.

It is a sign of the resurgence of values associated with the Constitution, Ronald Reagan, Tea Party, and Free Republic.

It is a communication to all those hard working tax slaves that you are not alone!

Agreed. No specialty plates, bumper stickers or tee shirts. A resume that makes me look like a functionary. FR postings are probably the only thing that gets me on a list. I don't expect to get picked up in the first wave.
