My junior year of HS someone nominated a popular stoner/jock type as Class President. He was a decent guy, friendly to everyone regardless what social category you were in and he didn't protest the nomination even though he had no interest in running in the first place.

Well, he took the nomination and ran with it, and was elected easily. He did alright as Class President. That is how all elections should go... nominate people that are not seeking the job... let them simply do the job as best as they can and at the end of their term, someone else is unwillingly hoisted from the ranks.
