Why? Because fedguv sucks.
Because I’m tired of the Old New World Order and being Globocop.
Because, though state gubmint sucks too, it could do marginally better. At least I better know who to tar and feather when things go wrong here.
Because fedguv is broke, and any second the dollar’s gonna fall and we’ll be screwed.
Because, though my state gubmint is broke too (considering unfunded liabilities), the bill is smaller.
Because we don’t need it.
The democratic mechanism is what the states did in ‘61, which is to have the legislatures vote to secede. The feds back then wouldn’t let it happen, as they were both lacking in vision and radical, greedy, bloodthirsty, uncompromising, and just plain mean. Nowadays they’re the same, except stupider, simultaneously less self-aware and more self-involved, and there are more of them.
Other states aren’t the problem, in my opinion. Or not the main one, anyway. You’d have to fight Washington to gain control of the union and kick other states out, in any case.
You’re right but D.C. isn’t a state and lawmakers were not supposed to live there year around.
Nice try, but that's not at all what it says. It says alter or abolish it. Since you have it within your power to alter it, Jefferson would have opposed your efforts to abolish it.
I was using “DC” as in the federal government.
I thougth they said that was about slavery.
I seem to remember more than a few other such american war about secession:
They were known as the American revolution, and the Texas Revolution.
If secession is not an inalienable right of men when the terms of their existing union is violated by a hospital or apathetic ruling majority or oligarchy. Then Washington shouldn’t exist at all.
