In the 2012 campaign, Barack Obama repeatedly claimed, “Al-Qaeda is on the path to defeat.”
But it was a lie.
Al-Qaeda was not on the path to defeat. In fact, several top Bin Laden lieutenants had relocated to the Middle East and Syria in the last few years.
In April 2014, Al-Qaeda fighters in Syria split off into two groups.

The global jihad movement has split in two. Members of al-Qaeda will now have to choose between two different emirs. The so-called “Khorasan pledge” was the final nail in the coffin of the reconciliation between al-Nusra Front and the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS). The rift no longer pertains to Syria only, but has spread to the other arenas of global jihad.
Nine al-Qaeda emirs from Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, and Iran declared their allegiance to the new emir of the faithful, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi – the head of ISIS – in what is being termed as the “Khorasan pledge.” A few days later, ISIS spokesperson Mohammed al-Adnani declared that “al-Qaeda deviated from the rightful course,” indicating that “it is not a dispute about who to kill or who to give your allegiance. It is a question of religious practices being distorted and an approach veering off the right path.”
This is a turning point in the clash – currently limited to the Syrian arena – between Baghdadi and Ayman al-Zawahiri.
This was one of the first reports on the “Khorasan pledge” in the media.
In July, CNN described the “Khorasan group” as a collection of senior al-Qaeda members.
The problem in Syria is compounded by the fact that, according to both British counterterrorism officials and U.S. intelligence officials, senior al Qaeda members based in Pakistan have traveled to Syria to direct operations there. They are known as the Khorasan group. Khorasan is an ancient term for an Islamic empire that once incorporated what is now Afghanistan.
Khorasan IS al-Qaeda.
This week US officials announced they had bombed ISIS and Khorasan targets in Syria.

The BBC reported on the mysterious Khorasan group:
The Khorasan Group – a name apparently coined by the US – is believed to be made up of about 50 veteran militants from Afghanistan and Pakistan, which jihadists refer to as Khorasan, as well as North Africa and Chechnya.
US officials said they had been sent to Syria by al-Qaeda’s leader, Ayman al-Zawahiri, not to fight the government of President Bashar al-Assad but to “develop external attacks, construct and test improvised explosive devices and recruit Westerners to conduct operations”.
The militants are thought to have embedded themselves within al-Qaeda’s local affiliate, the al-Nusra Front, and obtained land and buildings in its strongholds.
Several al-Qaeda veterans – including al-Nusra’s spokesman Abu Firas al-Suri and its top military commander, Abu Humam al-Suri – moved to Syria over the past year and appeared in al-Nusra propaganda.
The Khorasan cell’s alleged leader, Muhsin al-Fadhli, was also believed to have arrived last year, but he kept a low profile.
But it’s all Obama propaganda.
The Obama administration can’t say they bombed al-Qaeda because they said they defeated al-Qaeda. So, now they spin lies about core al-Qaeda being defeated and how they bombed the “Khorasan Group” instead of al-Qaeda.
It’s just more lies.
As Rush Limbaugh said Wednesday about the Khorasan group.
Al-Qaeda hasn’t gone away, so the Regime has to give them a new name to make it look like it’s a new group after Obama wiped out Al-Qaeda. But it’s just Al-Qaeda.

And it is all Muslim Brotherhood, an all-encompassing umbrella organization that has ties in every Sunni-dominant country in the Middle East, and important representatives in the White Hut itself. Perhaps the Current Occupant of the Oval Orifice may be personally ignorant of this phenomenon, but there are those in his immediate circle who are acutely aware of the complicated interrelationship of these franchises of MB.
By directing attention at one or another of these franchises, at the exclusion of looking at others, this serves to purge MB of its less reliable subordinates.

none of this caught anyone by surprise unless you are the
state controlled media, and even then it was fake.
Kinda like ACORN.

We’re going to be told our intel community were such idiots they didn’t know taking out Osama bin Laden would lead to a number of different splinter groups.
Instead of just having to stop one terrorist plot being planned over a long period of time like we did with OBL which is why Bush was able to stop the attacks, now we have to stop multiple terrorist plots being planned by multiple terrorist groups over a shorter period of time.
Terrorist plots that are virtually “spontaneous” compared to OBL’s plots.
Spontaneous terrorist attack.
