Health plans out of step with Obamacare are getting the boot
Washington Business Journal ^ | 10/3/2014 | Tucker Echols

Grandfather is fast losing his protective power.

Many health plans that did not meet the requirements of the Affordable Care Act, but were spared last year by a plea from the Obama Administration to let consumers keep existing coverage, are now heading for the scrap heap, Kaiser Health News reports. The policy cancellations will affect thousands of customers who get insurance coverage from CareFirst, Kaiser Permanente, Humana and Anthem among others.

A primary reason for doing away with the plans is the bottom line. The insurance industry has figured out that it can get higher premiums and make more money selling ACA-compliant policies that might be subsidized by the government.

“They’re getting a lot more revenue, often for the same person,” Kaiser Health News quoted insurance consultant Robert Laszewski as saying.

Affordable for Government.

You aren’t so naïve as to think they are including non-.gov citizens when they say “We”, and “Our Values”, do you?

They are saying We (the Government), and Our (those of us in the ‘ruling class’) Values.

We will probably see the same increase times 2. We only have had 1 COLA raise of 1.7% in 5 yrs, half went to Medicare. We realized a $40 SS increase. With the new DOD MANDATES, added to it, it made the ordering of medicine very complicated and Express Scripts is a KNOWN FRAUD committing agent. With Bad customer relations. His Navy pension was a 1% raise thanks to rinos like lamar alexander, who got a BIG pay raise.

Neither cover dental, glasses or hearing aids. I just shelled out $3400 for a middle of the line set of hearing aids. Then had to buy a Jabra Tour from Amazon Prime to turn my old no blue tooth car into one. You have to drive hands free on the Base.

BTW with 2 SS checks and a Navy Pension, hubby a 20 yr Navy Vet Ret. SCPO does not qualify for VA healthcare, we make TO MUCH MONEY.

We get as much of our daily meds from the Military base as we can. But it does not cover all meds. So every 3 months now ES shoves retail $3K worth of meds in our mail box UNSIGNED for. It will take an act of congress to reverse this stupidity.

It takes 3 weeks for a first fill, 2 weeks for refills at ES. Base will fill within 24 hrs, but does not do refills, those come out of Pensacola, FL takes a week. All is automated for both systems.

Starting Oct. 1, the Pentagon plans to reduce Tricare Prime service areas to within a 40-mile radius of active or former military installations, forcing 173,000 retirees and their family members to switch to Tricare Standard or seek a waiver if they live within 100 miles of an existing network.

The decision will affect retirees and their dependents in Prime, and those on Tricare Young Adult Prime. That totals 98,771 people in the Tricare South

Thank you oh most merciful and glorious Obama. You pleaded with yourself and your law to allow us one more year of our terrible grandfathered insurance. Did anyone else just notice how "the Obama administration" is already distancing itself this monstrous law? Now it is the noble Obama who is relieving us from these evyil insurance companies and obamacare regulations. Obama had nothing to do with Obamacare. He tried so hard to get those mean republicans from ruining Obamacare but they are just racists.

My parents have gone through their savings and live on SS with $6 left at end of month. Their premiums on supplemental will be increasing $26 each next year and because of Obamacare my employer dropped my spouse from my insurance which he’s been on for the last 25 years. He now has to purchase through his employer which is much smaller company and so now we pay $120 more per month for the same coverage (only now he’s HMO) Plus car won’t make it through the winter, have to find newer one soon. How in the world can I help my folks when I’m struggling myself?

That's unexpected. Obama assured us that Obamacare would save us money - $2500 per family. Is it going to cost us an average of $1500 per family in increased premiums plus another $2500 per family in added taxes to support the crony capitalist subsidies? Who would have guessed?
