And be able to qualify for a race position, as I understand it. To my knowledge, there is no limit on starting a team. A wad of cash, and a driver who can get ‘er done. I think one litmus test is poor grammar. But Nascar isn’t exactly an inner city sport, and it doesn’t appeal to women that much.
They are creating an issue that so far no one seems to know exists. Seriously, certain culture groups simply have their chosen past times. Some cross such boundaries, like football and baseball, but others don’t. Blacks have basketball, though some whites and ‘others’ enjoy it. Whites have nascar. Not because me ‘made’ it ours, but because for the most part, other groups weren’t really all that interested.
Big talk from someone who landed a top-tier NASCAR ride due to her skills as a soft-porn TV pitchbabe.

I’m no Danica fan, and think she gets a lot more attention than her skills deserve, but most drivers go a long time between wins. Even the good ones.

Check the stats, Danica is a good journeyman driver. Same as 75%-80% of the other drivers.
She is popular because she is attractive and a racer. Not just a woman racer, but a racer. From me that is a high complement.

Ido not think so. She was a pretty big name before NASCAR, having been in Indy. I do not remember her doing those ads until after she was well into it.
Alan Kulwiki was the first of the owner drivers.
Harry Gant was an oddball. He didn’t love racing despite being very good at it. He said he preferred being on a tractor.

Danica seems to understand something that only a select few of the Male racers in NASCAR do well.

When Danica takes the lead, every female in the stands cheers for her. I’ve seen it personally. The only one the crowd cheers louder for is Dale Jr.. And she has improved greatly in the second half of the season.

You mean a “Regular Guy” like J.J. Yeley? Or Paul MENARD? Or Brendon Gaughan? The ONLY reason that they have rides, at all, is because of the big money behind them personally.
