US President Barack Obama has declared a slow-moving lava flow from the Pu'u O'o vent of the Kilauea volcano in Hawaii to be a major disaster, the White House said.

The declaration frees up federal money to help protect local communities from the lava flow, which began moving toward homes on the big island of Hawaii on June 27 and is threatening Pahoa village.

No homes have been destroyed and no injuries have been reported.

Those water hoses may need to be sent to Ferguson.

This past summer wildfires ravaged parts of eastern Washington state. Those affected communities applied for Federal aid and were denied.

Slow-moving disaster. Yet wildfires and tornadoes are denied.

From my limited recollection of Pu’u/O’o lava, you should have enough time to completely dismantle your home and rebuild it elsewhere...that is if the flow doesn’t simply stop at any given time.
