“When Ehrlich was governor, all the legislature did was obstruct him.”

Yep, I remember when he wanted to bring Casino gambling to Maryland instead of raising taxes and they blocked it constantly as being bad for the people of Maryland.

Once they defeated him in his reelection bid and took over, they raised taxes as much as they could and then said “hey, we’ve got a great idea, let’s have Casino gambling in the state for the money it will raise for the state government.” So now we have Casinos and they have their cut; but they then went on and raised taxes even higher. The Maryland ‘RATS even passed a “rain tax”; you’ve read that right, the now actually TAX THE RAIN on your property. Maryland is the only state (so far) that taxes the rain.

The rain tax may have been the RATS’ “bridge too far” as it has pissed off a lot of people and THAT may be why we have a Republican Governor-elect.

Yes, then when O'Malley took over, they approved casinos AND raised taxes (40 tax increases in all, including the "rain tax.")

They never met a tax they didn't like -- or at lest one they didn't hike.

And they added one more casino than the people had authorized --- and instead of putting the casinos at the track like most other states do (to save Maryland racing, the intent of the proposal), we're getting them at National Harbor, in downtown Baltimore, and at a shopping mall, of all places.

Where we needed it, if we were going to do it, was at Laurel Park. It needs an upgrade. But nothing happens.
