If they end up down to ONE PAID POSITION, that last person will agitate for American communism until the electricity is finally cut in the building.

Hmm, well, this at least is interesting:

Prominent recently was the hiring of former NPR executive Kinsey Wilson as editor for innovation and strategy; Michelle Dozois as growth strategy editor; and Justin Bank from The Washington Post as deputy editor for audience development, to name a few. Other hires are expected soon, including possibly Alex Burns of POLITICO, according to a report from the Huffington Post.

These are senior hires with hefty salaries, and one wonders (well, I would if I were one of the ones laid off) if perhaps the money earmarked for those salaries might have saved a few jobs. What I'm seeing here is a retrenchment of the establishment Left, perhaps in preparation for the anticipated 2016 election. Pulling people in from Politico and NPR is not exactly a move toward editorial diversity.

And so the political class, including the unions, protects their own at the expense of the folks in the trenches. This isn't new.

And the last story they write as they lock the doors will blame the Republicans.

“Job cuts at the New York Times will exceed the stated goal of 100 newsroom positions eliminated”

Fortunately for the NYT, the quality of their output won’t be affected as they just need a handful of fiction writers and propagandists to write their “news” stories anyway.

Every time a liberal reporter loses their job, an angel gets its wings.
