California's health exchange is violating the law by canceling private coverage for up to 95,000 people because they might qualify for Medi-Cal, the state's insurance commissioner says.
At issue is health insurance for some of the poorest Californians whose incomes aren't high enough to even qualify for subsidized policies in the Covered California exchange.
The state marketplace is notifying thousands of policyholders that their federal premium subsidies for Obamacare coverage will end Dec. 31 and their private health plan won't be renewed starting in January. Instead, these people will be put into Medi-Cal, the state's Medicaid program for low-income residents.
California Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones has been urging the exchange to reconsider. "The law is very clear. They can't cancel people," Jones said in an interview.
All this comes at a pivotal time for Covered California. The exchange is trying to renew more than 1 million policyholders during the second open enrollment under the Affordable Care Act and sign up several hundred thousand more before enrollment ends Feb. 15.

I’m one of those people who were placed on Medi-Cal without a choice, and at this point I don’t know whether or not I have coverage for next year. All I’ve been sent is a notification of rights in case I’m not qualified, even though nothing has changed. I had a choice between two doctors who had admitting privileges at the nearest hospital, and the only hospital around here not run by Pakistanis. Jerry Brown is a wannabe dictator who actually, literally thinks he can stop the wind by raising gas taxes.
Crapcare was put in place to kill the system inplace, it was not designed to take the place of, be better than, provide more for. it was put in place to ruin what was working! What is being implemented are programs to destroy America’s foundations, government, military, law enforcement, health, business, and the economy. That idea actually had some merit and may have allowed some industry to stay in LA.

In my town we have a billboard 100% in Spanish advertising “You may qualify for a subsidy”; I wonder how many of the remaining Americans understand that they will foot the bill for said subsidies?

Jerry Brown was a liberal dictator the first time he was governor. I lived in California for over 30 years and am so glad I’m not there now.
