Obama dials up executive power
Politico ^ | January 5, 2015 | By David Nather

Posted on 01/05/2015 12:03:08 PM PST by Jim Robinson

What do you do when you don’t have Congress? Keep the regulations coming.

The Obama administration is preparing another active year of executive action in 2015, pumping out new rules and enforcing others for the first time — setting tougher standards on everything from air pollution to overtime pay to net neutrality, food safety, commercial drones, a college ratings plan and a crackdown on for-profit colleges that don’t prepare their students for well-paying jobs. There’s even going to be the first draft of a rule for organic pet food.

And, of course, there will be more executive actions to move forward on other initiatives as well — like the new measures President Barack Obama is set to announce on Friday to help more people go to college.

The rules and regulations will set up more confrontation with a newly unified Republican Congress, which will use all of the tools at its disposal to try to stop individual policies and blast the Obama administration for being too rule-happy in general. The new rules will get merged, generally, with the GOP’s complaints about about Obama’s executive actions on immigration — their view that he’s a go-it-alone president who’s ready to fire off executive actions on whatever he wants without listening to Congress.

Impose a cap on tuition. It makes as much sense as capping salaries and price-fixing medical costs.

Couldn't read it all.

Did Politico happen to mention anywhere that these 'rules' are likely as illegal as hell? I suspect not.

“Politco”, lol . . . what a rag. Gee, wonder whose side those libtards are on here? It’s not such a great idea to encourage (and finance) yet more useless college degrees. Obama will try to regulate anything he can except himself. What a sad excuse for a “president”.

Don't bet on it. Newly unified Republican Congress? Whose a$$ is this author's head inside and how did he get to that planet?

So far Obama has cranked out something like 78,000 pages of new regulations making him the most power grabbing president in history.

It won’t stop until the Rats are impeached, run out of the White House and adult POTUS and Veep are in their places to undo all these unconstitutional EOs.

Yeah, it’s funny how we never see calls to ‘socialize’ or regulate college tuition, isn’t it?

Which is why our mantra should be “don’t do business with OZero.” We should insist that the Congress FUND NOTHING (except the military) until the Kenyan Usurper agrees to resign. Also: We need to call on the GOP to make sure no appointees at any level are confirmed until that happens.

Judge Nap says that if the GOP were to take the senate they could reject regulations while they are in the (30 day) review stage (they can’t do anything about regulations that have already taken effect, however).

Judge Napolitano: EPA Colluding With Environmental Groups To Shutdown Coal Industry

Judge Nap indicates this veto vote is different than legislative veto - this vote invalidates regulations or takes regulation proposals off the table.

More money has only led to higher tuitions. And this for institutions that have billions of dollars in trust.

...crackdown on for-profit colleges that don’t prepare their students for well-paying jobs...

Why doesn't he start with the public skools first, especially middle and high skools? Then he can go after colleges that parcel out degrees in bunko field like LGBT Asian Studies with 120k student loan debt, and can only work at a coffee shop or the state department with Jen Psaki.

Reminds me of Yul Brenner’s character “Pharoah” in THE TEN COMMANDMENTS. Paraphrasing: “Let it be written. So, let it be done.”
