Ron Paul On Paris Attack: Bad Foreign Policy “Invites Retaliation”
BuzzFeed ^ | 01/07/2015 | Andrew Kaczynski

Posted on 01/07/2015 2:26:31 PM PST by SeekAndFind

Former Republican presidential candidate and congressman Ron Paul says bad foreign policy is to blame for the Paris terrorist attack on the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo that left at least 12 dead and 11 wounded.

“Well, you know, partially what the Secretary of State said is true — this is pretty obscene, when it comes to violence, and libertarians are pretty annoyed by anybody who initiates violence,” said Paul on NewsMaxTV’s Steve Malzberg Show Wednesday. “This is pretty bad.”

Paul said the context for the attack, however, was France’s involvement in the Middle East.

“But in the context of things, France has been a target for many, many years, because they’ve been involved in foreign affairs in Libya, and they really prodded us along in — recently in Libya, but they’ve been involved in Algeria, so they’ve had attacks like this, you know, not infrequently. So, it does involve, you know, their foreign policy as well. When people do this, you know, the rejection of the violence has to be made, and with that I agree.”

“I put blame on bad policy that we don’t fully understand, and we don’t understand what they’re doing because the people who are objecting to the foreign policy that we pursue, they do it from a different perspective,” Paul added. “They see us as attacking them, and killing innocent people, so yes, they, they have — this doesn’t justify, so don’t put those words in my mouth — it doesn’t justify, but it explains it.”

Paul said it was the West’s overall foreign policy which “invites retaliation.”

So why did Muhammed kill? America wasn’t around then.

The blame America crowd shows their incompetence by not acknowledging islam’s history of spreading thru violence.

“I put blame on bad policy that we don’t fully understand”

WRONG Rand!

Blame it on Islam, that YOU don't fully understand.

Islam wants to take over the world! That's probably one reason why they were so friendly with the Nazis.
They want an all Green world, that means all islam, not some nutty scammers that would like to make us all drive “smart” cars and tax us at 110% for the mythical man made “climate change” monster.

Ron Paul is right there with Zer0 who called the attack on Benghazi the result of a satire on Muhammad. Let’s call it for what it is, terrorism that does not believe in a civilized society and freedom.

Paul’s ideology is that of isolationism. Like any ideology, the test of history has declared Paul’s isolationism a fail one.

What exactly are the Western nations to do Mr. Paul? Are they to crawl back into their shell and never come out?

That’s sounds like peace to me too at first, but there’s some thinking to do here.

If the Western nations don’t try to direct world affairs, who will?

Do we want Islam to rule, China to rule, or Russia to rule? When it comes to foreign policy, should the West stay out and let these entities direct world affairs?

This is the seven year old child’s view of foreign affairs. My, if we just stay out of everything outside our nation, all will be peaches and cream.

And then Russia, China, and Islam carve up the rest of the world, making it what...?

Safer?

Obama is stuck on 9 and Ron Paul is stuck on 7.

I think Ron Paul is one of those old isolationists left over from 1940 who, like the late Sen. Borah, opposed U. S. involvement in World War II.

They had a principled position, but one that was lost at sea from the first, because they were following the lead of people who didn't want to pay for a first-rate Army and Navy, who wanted to engage in "internationalism" in diplomacy to sign arms-limitation treaties like the Treaty of London, but then refuse the responsibility of resisting with armed force the advances of totalitarianism when the diplomatic pie crusts began to be eaten up.

So the America Firsters were really following the tax-dodging Chamber types I call "wooden-gun Republicans" (like Cal Coolidge, Warren Harding, Marc Hanna , Wm. McKinley and other "Old Guard" [anti-Mooser/Mugwump GOPers] types who'd put up McKinley, Benjamin Harrison, and James G. Blaine for President) in articulating and spinning out arguments why they should reject "overspending" on defense.

Time never passed them by, because they were dunces of the Chamber/Four Hundred Families crowd, the Yacht Club, and never understood their own party's politics; so they were never in time to begin with, but just sort of floating around in some interdimensional void like Captain Kirk in his "lost in space" episode.

"Look, look -- there he is!"
"Oh, wait -- it's not Captain Kirk, it's only Ron Paul."
"Oh, never mind, then."

I think Ron Paul’s ridiculous wig is attached to his bald head with a 16 penny nail. Explains the brain damage.

It comes from an attempt to squeeze everything into a rigid philosophical system. Every once in a while you have to stand back and look at things with unadulterated common sense. You can’t do that if you’re doctrinaire.

Oops wrong Paul. Son Rand is the wig-wearer. Pappa Ron is the terror-apologist.

minor point, but Rand was not named after mother of Libertarianism Ayn Rand. His name is Randall. RP has said so himself. Although it was a convenient coincidence.

This proves that ron paul is an idiot.

This is islam we’re talking about... That so called “religion of peace” that beheads people who’s only crime is that they’re not muslims, and even some muslims because they’re a different sect.... But yeah true to himself just blame our foreign policy instead of a violent religion from the 7th century.

Thank God that he never became President.
