This is where we find ourselves now. Every citizen in Europe and the UK faces the risk of an Islamic attack merely while going about normal day-to-day business. UK citizens in particular face this risk whilst being denied weapons of self defense. In the past I have fully and enthusiastically supported the UK’s complete ban on hand guns. But immediately after the killing of Lee Rigby I began to reconsider the wisdom of that ban and I now utterly oppose it. As things stand in the UK, hand guns are illegal. For those shotguns you could own, extremely strict licensing specifically disallows self defense as a motive for ownership and so the old adage “In countries where guns are illegal, only the criminals have guns” is the frankly mad situation we now have in the UK.

What’s that you say? You want your guns back? Well guess what? You are going to have to FIGHT for them! Maybe you should have listened to those of us who told you that you shouldn’t give them up in the first place!
I’d have to ask one of our UK posters about the response time for armed bobbies to arrive.

Hey that’s a two’fer if you ask me. Maybe people are waking up...but maybe too late.
Before you were "enthusiastically" for a gun ban, but now you are "utterly" opposed. This is a result of making decisions based upon your emotional reaction to events rather than upon principles.
I love how the rich and powerful in the U.S. who are surrounded by 24 hour armed security (either private or paid for by taxpayer dollars) are opposed to it for average Americans trying to defend themselves and their families.
The last time we sent them guns for the Home Guard during WWII, after it was over they dumped them in the ocean!

I doubt I’ll live to see a day when a government returns liberty to it’s charges. The Peasants are unarmed, they pose no threat to the ruling class. All else is simply political collateral damage in these times of Sharia Law encroachment.

During WWII American civilians donated large quantities of small arms to the British due to the impending invasion. Too bad they confiscated and destroyed them. They’d come in handy for this invasion as well!

Well, there’s one that finally woke up. IIRC Australia is very similar with their gun laws.
I’m sure there are still some arms stashed away in many peoples’ homes.
