Reports suggest German Chancellor Angela Merkel had given him until Wednesday to agree a peace plan over Ukraine or face new sanctions.

It is literally not possible for the European Union to issue an ultimatum about Ukraine to Putin.
Only certifiable idiots, dwelling entirely within their own little fantasy worlds believe that Putin is acting outside the will of the Russian governing class.
So, even if Europe possessed a military capable of contending against the Russians, their sabre rattling is ultimately against the Russian machine as a whole, not Putin personally. Because Putin is not taking a course of action that is different in any way from the actions every replacement (no exceptions) for his position would take.
Sometimes personalities are irrelevant.
Either that or a “defensive attack” against a NATO asset, or something along those lines. Russia might just be willing to take it up a notch. The West has weak leaders, a fact not lost on the Kremlin.

I am all for arming Ukraine, putting in special forces advisors, and launching airstrikes on rebel positions in Eastern Ukraine.
Ukraine has people, they just need arms (maybe some discarded A-10’s. lol) and they could make a go of it.

It looks like there is someting going on we don’t know about. Russia is on the move —England and France don’t want to get on the wrong side of things. What is the truth? All I can guess is that Obama / Kerry do not have a clue whats going on. What do you think is happening?
