AUGUSTA, Ga. – Coming into Sunday at the Masters, Jordan Spieth held a four-shot lead, and that was enough to ensure that this day would see a memorable story, one either of triumph at a young age or of gut-punch collapse.

What's more, Spieth became just the fifth player – and first since 1976 – to lead the tournament wire-to-wire, something not even Tiger has managed to do in his four Masters victories.

Jordan Spieth was 19 under coming to the 18th hole. In the entire history of Master’s tournament no player ever was 19 under. Spieth tied Tiger’s winning record of 18 under, and won by 4 strokes over the nearest two players to finish, Mickelson & Rose.

And the first player to go wire to wire with the lead in 39 years. Go to bed with that pressure is tough. Spieth said it was nerve-racking and he didn’t sleep well last night. Congratulations to him for holding on for a record win.

Impressive.
Good for him.

And I’m tired of hearing excuses for Tiger.
Retire already.

Great kid. Great golfer. Great family. His brother was a starting guard as a freshman at Brown. His sister is a special needs kid who loves her brother dearly and the entire family reciprocates that love. So glad he won.

They are slipping. They didn’t make it about Tiger until the second paragraph.

It was a good race for second between Mickelson and Rose, and Rory’s strong finish.

What is amazing to me is that about 50 years ago “The Golden Bear” finished at 17 under. My understanding is that Augusta is basically the same course it was 50 years ago. Ball / Equipment development is light years ahead of then. And lets face it , the importance of physical conditioning is light years ahead of the avg. PGA Golfer from the 1960’s as well. Jacks -17 under has to be the greatest 4 round score ever at Augusta IMO.

Nice to see the “old man” Mickelson still show he’s got some game left.

Yep, amazing performance. This kid is wise beyond his years.
& did you hear, Tiger broke his wrist and bone popped out but he popped back in & all good!! Seriously??
It’s worse than the infamous “glutes deactivated” excuse.
