One of the few times sanity MAY prevail in Kalifornia. Councilman Mike Posey, who led the vote in the council, campaigned on repealing the ban. The state-wide ban is on hold because an initiative to challenge it has qualified for the ballot for the next election.

You can take my plastic grocery bags from me when you can pry them from my cold dead hands.

If the statewide ban is overturned it may not have an effect on any local bans, as I understand the initiative.

It might only be a baby step but at least it’s a start. There still might be some hope for California after all!

Brought to you by the same people who banned paper bags in favor of plastic, years ago.

Another nanny state liberal idea to save the earth backfires. This time, they reversed themselves.

Haven’t been to Huntington Beach in over 40 years - probably a little different now. Nice beaches on one side of the PCH and lots of oil wells on the other.

In response to a local bag ban in Morgan Hill, CA, one local store had their plastic bags printed with the word “Reusable” prominently displayed on them. Since the ordinance only prohibited “single-use” bags, it didn’t affect their use of them. :=)

Actually, they ARE reusable. I use them to line waste baskets in the house and for years I never bought any. Then the left-wing fascists on the local city council banned them and I had to buy some grocery style bags on Amazon. I carry them into stores and freak out the clerks by handing the bags to them and telling them to use them for my groceries LOL.

The bastard who initiated the plastic bag ban here in L.A was that untalented lib hack Julia louis dreyfus (veep, seinfeld). You go to stores like Ross, Autozone, Pep Boys etc and they still give away plastic bags which I prefer. Best Buy gives me the BS line “it’s the law’ but when I told them about Ross, they couldn’t give me a rebuttal.

I live in CA.
Most 38 Million residents are politically retarded.
It becomes more a one party run Idiocracy day by day, with a 9+% sales, 6+% income tax, 46% share of income needed for housing, and doing nothing practical in the face of drying up and blowing away.
California returning to its senses?
Not holding my breath...

Staying so far cuz I do like the weather, mountains, shore, IT career opportunities and most people I meet.

They want people to do like in Europe (at least traditionally, I don’t know what they do these days), and have to go to market every day, getting only what they can carry. Of course, that would involve people having to live in pedestrian-friendly population centers, with limited car usage, people living in population density, etc-just like the green nazis want.

Since those plastic bags are not biodegradable, I’ve been saving them. I plan to have them wrapped around me like a mummy when I die. It’ll save me the price of a coffin.

How’s that for recycling? LOL
