This Man Is America’s Best Hope for Near-Term Climate Action
Slate ^ | May 13, 2015 | Eric Holthaus

Conservative climate champions are often laughed off or ignored. But what’s happening within the American political right could change everything, and fast.

Each year since 1989, the JFK Library bestows its Profile in Courage award to a public servant who takes a principled but unpopular position. This year, the award went to Bob Inglis, a former congressman from South Carolina who’s turned into America’s best hope for near-term climate action. Oh, he’s also a Republican.

As you might expect, Inglis wasn’t always a climate campaigner. In his acceptance speech last week at the JFK Library in Boston,he described how and why he changed his mind on global warming:........

.....Science, plus his deep Christian faith, convinced Inglis that taking action on climate—and saving countless lives in the process—was the right thing to do. Almost immediately, he began advocating for carbon pricing: He argued that it would be good for business and the environment. He even began looking to Canada for inspiration.....During a 2009 speech on the House floor, he called an American plan for a British Columbia–style revenue-neutral carbon tax a “fabulous opportunity.”.....

[SNIP]

Together with evangelical Christian climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe and the retired Navy Rear Adm. David Titley, Inglis represents the forefront of the American conservative zeitgeist on global warming. It’s interesting to note that they’re also all infectiously optimistic.Hayhoe, who’s in the midst of an indefinite speaking tour, primarily to conservative audiences, recently told me that when it comes to action on climate change among those on the right, “There is a dam effect. Once the dam is breached, there could be rapid change.”

After speaking with Inglis, I have to agree. It’s refreshing to hear anyone—especially a Republican—actually hopeful on climate. My wife and I had an hourslong conversation following the interview. Her main takeaway: “Why can’t more people think like him?”

Bob Inglis is another Democrat in an R jersey who was kicked out of office by his constituents because he did not represent them. He also supports amnesty for illegal aliens in addition to supporting the CO2 theory, which we all know is nothing but hot air.

Saying he is a Republican doesn’t carry much weight. You might as well say he is a Democrat. No difference.

So how is he making money from this?

Great question. I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up as a "consultant" for one of the liberal think tanks.

Looks like somebody has bought stock in a company that sells “green” marketed products.

“”””So how is he making money from this?”””””

For sure. He’s either bought stock in squiggly lightbulbs or has a brothernlaw that works for a research group and needs to keep the funding flowing in.
But you bet, somebody is making money somewhere. After all, Global Warming™ is the biggest money-making scam in the history of mankind.

P.C. and E.C. work on the same principles.

1. You’re not smart enough to reach your own conclusions.

2. If you think you are and express those thoughts, you are a Racist, Bigot, Xenophobe, Denier, Sexist, Genderist, Capitalist, White American Christian Redneck.

I saw a chicken the other day with a long flat beak, webbed feet, and made a “quack” sound. Funniest looking chicken I ever seen.

Correction:

Each year since 1989, the JFK Library bestows its Profile in Courage award to a Democrat, or to a Republican who comes out for higher taxes, for abortion, or for the Global Warming Hoax.

So how is he making money from this?

Very cleverly NOT stated, isn't it?

Who is is “new” fund-raiser, sponsor and travel-provider for this “tour” in front of “conservatives”? Who pays his wages and his house and his cars right now?

And - by the way - if he is a christian - why does his "new" position on catastrophic global warming responsible for the economic and energy policies that are killing millions every year, and condemning billions to endless poverty in squalor and disease?

I will believe the threat of rising sea levels is real the day I see the global warming crowd begin to emphasize civil engineering projects such as dikes, sea walls or overflow intake pipelines from nearby oceans to large relatively uninhabited below sea level areas such as the Caspian Sea, Egypt's Qattara Depression or California's Death Valley.

Any of these will do far more to contain rising sea levels than all the cockamamie schemes of trading carbon credits, storing carbon dioxide underground or all the other goofy suggestion of the global warming crowd which stands to be enriched and empowered by such schemes.

CO2 is not harmful, nor does it determine the temperature. If anything, rising CO2 levels are beneficial.

Sea levels are not rising, either.

All of their models and projections are wrong because they are based on a flawed theory.

The source of all heat on earth is responsible for the temperatures. When the Sun gets less active, the Earth literally freezes. The current interglacial period has lasted longer than usual. If we want to worry about climate change, start planning to survive miles of ice covering the upper midwest.

The entire Gore-bull warming scam is about money.

evangelical Christian climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe

So being an evangelical Christian makes her correct on climate change...?

Seems to me Slate assumes christians are mindless sheep who can't think for themselves and need to be convinced by one of their own...to believe...
