It looks like one of the North Carolina GOP Congressmen who voted against reelecting Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) as Speaker this year may get a primary challenge from the GOP establishment.

Another area where Jones and Tata do not see eye to eye is immigration. Jones is the NC delegation’s fiercest immigration hawk, earning the only ”A” raring from major anti-amnesty organization Numbers USA in NC. Tata on the other hand, controversially sided with liberal NC Attorney General Roy Cooper to authorize giving NC drivers licenses to illegal alien ”Dreamers” in NC.

Walter Jones has been one of the stalwarts against amnesty.

This man of integrity (and guts) voted against Boehner for Speaker and is a FIRM OPPONENT OF AMNESTY. For these two reasons, the GOPe hates him.

Jones is one of the best in the House. I only wish he had ousted Hagan from the Senate instead of Tillis. It’d be great to have Jones and Sessions fighting the good fight on immigration in the Senate. Tillis will show his true colors on immigration in time. I’m sure of that.

Also he opposes Boehner FROM THE LEFT. While he voted for Dan Webster in 2015, he voted for some random RINO who is not even in Congress in 2013.

Walter Jones Jr. is an anti-amnesty liberal Democrat running for office with an "R" next to his name.
If you're a single issue voter and simply don't care that he's liberal on everything else, and will happily support the most pro-Democrat "Republican" Congressman in the south because he votes the right way on amnesty, that's your choice. Liberal Democrat Robert Byrd was rock solid on opposing amnesty too so I suppose he'd have your support. But don't pretend that Jones is an "anti-establishment conservative" or Tea Party material because he happens to agree with conservatives on 2 issues out of 100.
As for, I choose not to support a politician who gets glowing praise from Mother Jones.

Poltics1 reports that Tata has announced he’s not running, so we need someone else.
2014 challenger Taylor Griffin (who came close) is listed as a potential candidate. He’s reportedly remained active in the district.
