Chicago Mayor and former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel is famous for saying that a crisis is a terrible thing to waste since it allows you to do things you might not be able to get done except for the emotions of the moment spurring calls to action.
Chicago’s bloody Memorial Day weekend, which saw a dozen people killed -- including a four-year-old-girl -- certainly proved no exception to Rahm’s Rule as he called for, wait for it, stricter gun control as he spoke at a luncheon honoring police officers for valor and service. “It’s not just about how many police you have, it’s about the quantity of guns that are on the street so we actually have gun laws that back up the men and women we just recognized,” Emanuel said.
This delusional sentiment warning that otherwise inanimate objects are the problem was echoed by White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest after a bloody holiday weekend in Baltimore saw 29 shot and nine killed:

Here’s my idea of a good gun control law:
If a perp possesses a gun or any deadly weapon during the commission of a crime, or someone is injured or killed as a result of that crime, the death penalty is mandatory. If the jury concludes that there is absolutely no question of the guilt of the perp the execution will occur immediately.
That would only work if prosecutorsand cops were scrupulously honest, but they aren’t.
So the cops get called to the scene of a crime in a black neighborhood. Given that it is a black neighborhood, what do you think the chances are that it was a black person that made the call to the police.
So a black person calls the police because they are about to become the victim of a crime. The police arrive and the only way to save the black victim is to shoot the black criminal. Explain again how it is that the police are racists in this situation?

Just a technical point here: Why insist on calling this dwarf ballerino “Rahmbo,” an obvious reference to John Rambo of the novel First Blood, who was a proven hero, recipient of the Medal of Honor in Vietnam? This vicious midget bears no resemblance to even a fictional man of courage and heroism.

Only a loon like Stumpy would think less guns are the answer. Chicago has had some of the most strict gun laws for eons and it hasn’t helped on bit.
