In every single job in NYC and Long Island that accepted me (including my current one), the employer first checked criminal background and required me to submit a urine and drug test.

“Brave new world: Mayor de Blasio bans NYC employers from asking applicants about criminal history”
Does this apply to people applying to be on the police force?

Yeah, they always asked if I had anything more than traffic citations, and made me pee in a bottle.

(They need to target the 'Ministry of Virtue' which has nothing to do with virtue.)

Under what statute do they have the right to regulate this?

The background check is a must, and in certain positions so is the testing.
This is one PC stance that will be reversed in short order.
The first guy that kills a co-worker and they find out he was a very problematic guy criminal record wise, the City of New York will pay out more money than mast people make in a lifetime.
How do people with this little common sense become mayor?

Another reason for companies to leave NY City.
The de Blasio decline of the Big Apple continues.

You mean those sophisticated employers of NYC won’t be able to spot the 5, 10, 15 year etc. gaps in the resume? Won’t call the alleged former employers? Won’t spot the “parole officer” cited as a professional or character reference? Won’t require transcripts, diplomas, or licenses from cited institutions? And they call us unsophisticated country bumpkins.

I’m wondering also. What if it was made “law” that interviewers had to do a headstand while conducting the job interview? Would that also be legal?

So banksters and wall street can’t ask about your criminal background. Sweet. I think if I had a large firm I would be looking to Houston for some new digs.

China, Mexico, etc. are delighted at the news. They know it will spread to the rest of the country and more jobs will be heading their way.
