If you fail to exercise proper due diligence on a background check on an employee and they harm someone intentionally as in raping them and a background check would have revealed that the employee had a prior conviction for that same act guess what? You’re getting sued.
Background checks just make good sense unless you’re a criminal with a checked past.

I took the low turnout to be more of an indication of how few Americans remained in NYC (I know they said “registered voters”, but like my area a dozen miles to the west of NYC there are simply less & less people eligible to vote). If 21% of eligible voters in NYC voted DeBlasio in, then I suspect 60% of the registered voters died years ago (but are still on the rolls).
