More guns make Americans feel safer
New York Newsday ^ | August 7, 2015 | John R Lott Jr

Posted on 08/09/2015 10:58:20 AM PDT by richardb72

Americans are increasingly convinced that owning a gun makes them safer.

A new Rasmussen poll found that an overwhelming majority of Americans (68 percent) "feel safer in a neighborhood where guns are allowed." And a series of polls by Gallup, the Pew Research Center, and ABC News and The Washington Post show similar results.

But it isn't just what people say. They are clearly putting more stock in self-defense. Since 2007, the number of concealed-handgun permits has soared from 4.6 million to 12.8 million. A new study by the Crime Prevention Research Center finds that a record 1.7 million permits were issued in the past year, a 15.4 percent increase.

Nationwide, 5.2 percent of adults have a permit.

But in five states, more than 10 percent of adults have concealed-carry permits. In some counties around the United States, more than 1 in 5 adults are licensed to carry. In much of the country, someone among theatergoers or restaurant customers is likely to be legally carrying a permitted, concealed handgun.

But even these numbers don't do justice to the change that has taken place. . . .

When your government refuses to protect you, you have no choice but to protect yourself.

It’s become obvious to the citizens that the government is assisting the foreign invason of their country.

It’s a surprisingly fair and factual article for Newsday. You can still feel the shivers in their livers about so many regular citizens armed, though, and that stupid picture is out of place.

The movement has been going on for quite some time.

Hillary/Obama's Illinois was the last to fall.

In 1986, 41 states were "may issue" or would not allow concealed-carry.
This year, it is 8... with zero "no issue" states.

("May issue" means that if you pass the background checks, the local sheriff or the state may give you a permit... but they may not. It is still up to their personal whims. "Shall issue" means that they must approve the permit if you have passed all of the checks.)

According to the liberals, these must be the counties that account for the majority of gun deaths .... right?

In U.S. mass-shootings since 1992, when the first person to shoot back is an on-duty police officer or SWAT team member, the average number of dead is 12.4... but when the first to shoot back is ANYONE else (including off-duty police), the average number of dead is 4.8...

FACT: More guns make America safer. Less guns make America more dangerous.

It is all a mirage. We would really be much more safe when we were unarmed and had to cower in fear, or just throw up on our attacker. Really. Trust me.

And, why not?

Ever since the immaculation of the Queer-in-charge in 2008, there has been more Negro on white crimes perpetrated than in years before.

Police are not commissioned to protect individuals, regardless of what their motto says. The are there to suppress law-breaking generally (if possible) and to apprehend law-breakers, not those who do not announce their intention to break the law.

Only you have the right to protect yourself. Take this to heart.

You’re right about that, my point was more the federal government refusing to uphold federal laws and deport illegal aliens as the law says they should. They are actively thwarting the law and putting the citizens at risk from foreigners intentionally.
