The Roger Stone Zone: McCain Aides Attacks On Palin Grow Tedious Schmidt = Incompetent (Trump's Ex)

The continued attacks on Sarah Palin by campaign Aides to Senator John McCain are almost beyond belief.

Continued attacks on Palin, and on her performance as the Vice Presidential candidate by McCain Aide Steve Schmidt, are particularly ridiculous given Schmidt's track record of incompetence and missteps by the senior McCain aide during the Presidential campaign.

Schmidt is, after all, part of the gang that had McCain suspend his presidential campaign and rush back to Washington to take the exact same position as Barack Obama on the first Federal bailout bill which in the end, only bailed out Goldman Sachs and other Wall Street Bankers.

With his endorsement of the bailout, McCain lost any chance to draw a contrast with Obama and wage a competitive race for the Presidency.

Schmidt, the political genius, was also party to the late October announcement that the McCain campaign was writing off Michigan. Even if polling showed that Michigan was beyond reach, why would you announce it publically so the Obama campaign could shift resources from Michigan to another toss-up-state?

Schmidt also made the rookie mistake of releasing campaign videos on a regular basis which almost always stepped on the subject matter of McCain's speech on any given day. The pathetic "Paris Hilton" video is a perfect example. It drowned out media coverage of McCain's speech on healthcare that day. Under Schmidt, the McCain campaign was sending mixed and conflicting messages to the media.

Insiders tell me Schmidt was running his own campaign from his end of the office, rarely coordinating with Campaign Manager, Rick Davis, or the traveling party. There is no doubt about the fact that the situation on the Palin campaign tour was chaotic. The candidate was rarely on time, baggage was lost, daily schedules were not printed or distributed on time, and Palin's speeches were rarely given to the press in advance as is customary in a presidential campaign.

This is all because Schmidt insisted on appointing two of his college buddies with no previous political experience whatsoever to run the Palin tour. Jason Recher was Palin's Tour Director and Andrew Smith, Schmidt's college room-mate, was her Chief of Staff. The complete lack of any political experience by both ensured the chaos that surrounded Palin.

Instead of assigning a Senior Campaign Aide to the Palin tour, someone with experience, judgment and gravitas like Charlie Black or Wayne Berman, the McCain campaign sent Tucker Eskew, a Lee Atwater toady of minimal talent. By the end of the campaign, Eskew and Palin were not on speaking terms.

Most outrageous is an attack on Palin by early McCain Advisor, John Weaver who said "Sarah Palin reminds me of Jimmy Stewart in the movie 'Harvey,' complete with imaginary conversations," Weaver told the Politico. "All books like these are revisionist and self-serving, by definition. But the score-settling by someone who wants to be considered a serious national player is petty and pathetic."

This is the same John Weaver who burned through $18 million of McCain campaign cash, leaving the campaign broke before votes were cast in the first Primary.

Weaver also recruited a top-heavy staff of Karl Rove lackeys who never had any real interest in electing McCain President. Weaver was fired by McCain and subsequently leaked stories to the New York Times about McCain's alleged relationship with a female lobbyist. And John Weaver is criticizing Sarah Palin?

Sarah Palin stands head and shoulders above the pathetic losers in the McCain camp who have turned attacking Palin into a cottage industry. These McCain's Aides seem to forget their own complicity in the selection of the Alaska Governor as McCain's running mate. If she is so bad, why did you fellows select her?

I have my own political trip-wire test -- Palin -- and I wanted to see what Trump's former campaign manager, Roger Stone, was all about. Never saw this article before, love how he dissects Schmidt; this piece was written at the time "GOING ROGUE" was released. Stone has worked for Bush and Gary Johnson and other campaigns, no slouch.

So far I've found out

1. He is proud of the fact Barbara Bush hates his guts. (check) 2. He's got balls enough as a writer to publicly confront John Dean over lies about Watergate (check, though I'm not sure what his court case with Dean is about) 3. He knows how to do hard research as a writer (check) 4. He apparently warned Trump about going after MKelly and wanted him to stick to the issues and that's what their fight was about (check) 5. He was dead on about Sarah Palin (check) 6. He hates the Uniparty, he's an Independent (check) 7. He still loves Donald Trump and thinks he's the right man for the job and loves the country (check) 8. He refuses to work for any other campaign and says he's had big offers (check) 9. He's got the balls as a writer to wade into the Nixon/JFK/CIA historical conspiracy scandals (check) 10. He still loves Trump (check)

1. McCain would have lost by 30 points without Palin
2. He allowed his staff to berate her
3. He refused to endorse her
4. He asked her to endorse him.
5. She did.

Makes my blood curdle.

Hmmmm. Maybe there is another (sub rosa) reason for Stone (a most-trusted DT aide) leaving Trump at this time.

Hmmmmmm...

(Did I say Hmmmmm...? I meant to.)

Listen to the video. He stands by Trump regardless, looks like he advised Trump not to go after Megyn Kelly because it took Trump off message.

There has been some discussion that they actually did win, and Rove with Jeb’16! in mind, rigged it with the GOPe for the Obama Uniparty win.

Nonetheless, Stone passes my Palin test, which makes me like Trump all the more.

Oops, I thought I was replying to my other thread with the Roger Stone video:

This was my exact criticism of Trump. It was unprofessional and childish. He is a presidential candidate and needs to stay out of the weeds. He should pick his battles - not respond to every criticism of him. I know others believe differently, but I agree with Roger Stone on this issue.

Listen to the interview. Trump needs to rehire and listen to Stone’s advice.

Stone gave him the best advice but the confrontation with MK and FNC has panned out for DT anyway.

But this post of yours has me thinking in another direction of possibilities now. Don't know what exactly but it is terribly interesting to me!

Stone is interesting. Puts his cajones on the line and still loves Trump. A rare specimen.

This can’t be the same McCain that most of the media defended when Trump pointed out what a loser he is. /s

I’ll remain neutral on Stone for the moment, but I’m glad this meant something to you.

Take care.

I read enough to understand your “neutrality” comment. Colorful personality.

What’s interesting is the difference in how the Ailes/Trump dust up was reported in the Blaze and here:

Steve Schmidt is a consummate LOSER.
Why he continues to hang around is beyond me.
The ONLY way Schmidt is not a total loser is if he is a Demmunist mole in the Republican ranks.
