Veteran Iowa political operative Chuck Laudner spent the last presidential election crisscrossing the state in his own pickup truck with Rick Santorum at his side, driving the former Pennsylvania senator to a surprise victory in the crucial Iowa Republican caucus in 2012.
This time around, Laudner is running Donald Trump's Iowa campaign. But don't expect Trump to hop in the passenger seat of Laudner's "Chuck Truck" anytime soon.
"No, no, not gonna happen," Laudner said in an interview Friday at the Iowa State Fair.
That's because Trump is largely eschewing the classic retail politicking that has defined presidential campaigns in Iowa for decades, and much of Laudner's own career as a political operative.
Trump's jaunts to Iowa start and end with a flight on his private plane, and his travel to events involves a fleet of black SUVs, not an operative's pickup truck. Even as he heads to the fair on Saturday for the most conventional stop in Iowa politics, Trump will whirr above the crowds and land in his Trump-emblazoned helicopter.

Each county has a caucus? If so, the secret is having an organization in each county to make sure the supporters get out to vote. Correct? That takes money...and Trump has the money - as does Bush and Cruz.
Trump could blanket the area with leaflets, tossed down to the little peoples from his helicopter.

It’s also about enthusiasm for the candidate. You have to motivate people to go out in the middle of winter and literally stand up for your guy in front of a crowd. You need either a lot of enthusiasm or a bunch of staffers and volunteers to pester people into going. Or so I’ve been told.

How many of Iowa’s 1500+ caucus locations could be packed with Chicagoans without the locals or Hillary’s minions noticing?
Hillary finished THIRD in the 2008 Iowa caucuses. Maybe John Edwards bused in supporters from Glencoe to the hundreds of precinct locations where there weren’t any ChiCongoans.

It’s not the delegate counts that will matter in those early days, but the perceived invincibility of the campaign.
If Trump wins Iowa-NH-SC, it will be extremely difficult for anyone to stop his momentum. Extremely difficult, maybe impossible.

Which is why TPTB want to chase him out before the first vote is cast. They're not at all confident that he would *not* win the opening trifecta, and if he did, in fact, win it, they would not be able to stop him at all, bar physically killing him, which presents its own problems.
In short, as Roger Stone remarked they *are* literally wetting their pants. They've taken, what, three shots at him now, and what has it accomplished? His position has only gotten stronger. This is something they totally did not foresee, and they are panicking...
