Interesting ... the headline on the Crowther article refers to “Sumarai.”

I’m wondering to myself if Quentin Tarentino borrowed from the title “Pride of the Marines” when he used the fictional movie “Nations Pride” as a plot device in in Inglourious Basterds. He’s a huge movie buff. Though I don’t think his movies would have played well in 1945.
